About Last Night.

I must say I am rather disgusted. As was mentioned last night, on our live blog, they were discussing the spin instead of the issues. I feel like ABC let everyone down, Both Clinton and Obama supporters alike.

This was not a debate, it was a hit job, by a corporate controlled news outlet. We have precious little time before the Pennsylvania Primary, and instead of the moderators asking questions about issues, we got a 20 minute discussion on a flag pin. (52 minutes altogether on the alleged Obama controversies) These are non issues, and it is an insult to the American intelligence for these 2 men to be asking such questions.

Here are the issues:
The Economy...
The War...
Health Care...
Housing...
4 dollars a gallon gas...
Social Security...
Education...
Job Security...
Federal Budget...
National Security...
Putting food on the table....
The Economy....
The Economy....
The Economy....

Instead of issues, last nite, we got Agenda:
Flag Pins, Shady neighbors, the Weather underground, Reverends, Bitterness.

Well, now I'm bitter. VERY bitter. Last Night instead of attempting to give us a dignified debate, ABC chose to fan the flames of controversy. Instead of letting these two candidates DEBATE, they turned it into an episode of Jerry Springer. They did an injustice to the American people. From Tom Shayles column in the Washington Post:
To this observer, ABC's coverage seemed slanted against Obama. The director cut several times to reaction shots of such Clinton supporters as her daughter, Chelsea, who sat in the audience at the Kimmel Theater in Philly's National Constitution Center. Obama supporters did not get equal screen time, giving the impression that there weren't any in the hall. The director also clumsily chose to pan the audience at the very start of the debate, when the candidates made their opening statements, so Obama and Clinton were barely seen before the first commercial break.

At the end, Gibson pompously thanked the candidates -- or was he really patting himself on the back? -- for "what I think has been a fascinating debate." He's entitled to his opinion, but the most fascinating aspect was waiting to see how low he and Stephanopoulos would go, and then being appalled at the answer.
Charles Gibson and George Stephanopoulos are not news men, they are corporate shills working for the same company that brought *The Path to 9/11* Remember that hit job? Come to think of it... Let me add one more thing to that list of issues...
Get rid of for-profit debates.

Last night was a debacle. ABC News is dead to me.
