Be the Beach: BuhBy 2020

This is the final blog of a pretty shitty year. I really don't know how else to put it. Yesterday, Bob put it perfectly, Put a Fork in It.

I want to tell you all something. I am so grateful to have gone through this year with each and every member of our little corner of the internet. Having you around popping in and out has made this hellscape a little bit easier, and that little bit truly goes a long way.

12 years ago, we were eagerly waiting and planning to attend the Inauguration of President Barack Obama. It would be the first time Mala, Bob and the Tri-Sec family would be together. It was cold that day but it was joyful. Leading up to that meeting there was a palpable sign that things were finally going to change. I feel that way again.

Things will change. and like twelve years ago, it's important to remember this ship will not turnaround overnight. Unfortunately, the damage that this maladministration has done may be more destructive than the 8 years of the Bush regime. The Bush regime was greedy and used that as a tool to keep power. This time hate and evil have been the driver in the White House.

Pure White Evil Hatred.

The type of damage by that evil is different than that caused by an illegal war, or bad economic policies. In 4 years, we have been suffering an attempt of death by one cut after another to the moral and the psyche of our nation. All of it has been happening unabashedly right in front of our eyes. It's the pain only an abuser can inflict upon its victims, ones that do not have the means to escape their abuser.

2020 might be ending, but we have to hang on for 20 more days so we can begin to heal and recover from this dark chapter of life. I wish we didn't have to suffer from this, but I could not imagine it without you, as strange as that may sound.

We will build back better. We will because of all we have gone through together. All of the things that hurt or made us smile; all the struggles and all the joyous moments all of those things -- the ups and the downs have prepared us to be a part of the recovery of the collective soul of this nation.

A single piece of sand does not make a beach until millions of pieces come together. Let's be a part of the beach. I'll see you next year-- I cannot wait to hug you all.

Peace & Love,
Raine
