Too much all at once.

Good Monday Morning, I am happy to report that Bobber is well on the mend. The Surgery and the post-op recovery went according to his surgeon "Exceedingly Well" and he returned home Thursday.

His pain threshold is going as expected as well. This is all a huge weight off of both of our shoulders as we go forward with whatever next steps may be. By Saturday, I felt like I could breathe again, and relax a bit.

I wish I could write something here that is political but seriously, I can't. My mind is reeling. I have the very good fortune of retaining my closest friends in High School to this day. We get together for a weekend every few years, and while I hate the term 'Girls Weekend' I relish the time with them. It's a reminder of how far I have grown and changed in my life. Thankfully, it's a good reminder. Yesterday, I found out one of those friends lost her daughter. I don't have the details, but she was found dead in her apartment, there is no suspicion of foul play. In the middle of texting with this group of friends, another friend found out her husband (skiing in Montan) was taken to the ER. He's been released and waiting to be given the OK to fly home.

On top of that Katie is not feeling well. We have a vet appointment for her tomorrow.

Basically, yesterday was a shitshow. Geopolitical issues are of little worry to me this morning. Today I have to let some things go and take care of what I can.

There is always a lot happening -- usually, much of it is in the abstract, but lately, it's been intimately personal and it is a lot at once. Not being able to physically be with the ones makes this all feel much more of a burden than it would otherwise be.

I don't write this for wishes of condolences, pity or to shock you. Mainly I wanted to tell you how much you mean to us. I write this to say that sometimes the best thing to do, is stop, breathe and get ready to love those you really care about a little more. If that means sitting aside and giving oneself a moment to meditate, pray or whatever needs to be done, do it. If there is one thing in this world that is infinite, it's love and caring. The trick is to extend it to those who are worthy of it. My friends are.
