Low, Slow, and Circling the Bowl
Author: BobR    Date: 04/05/2023 12:58:36

Yesterday was a day that will live in infamy, as well as the hearts of good percentage of American citizens: it was the first time in our nation's history that a sitting or previous president has been arrested. Not just arrested, but charged with 34 (count 'em) felonies. While it answers the question "when will he face consequences for all of his illegal activity?", it is still a national embarrassment.

Was TFG embarrassed? It's hard to tell. Based on the still taken off of video as he's being escorted through the process, he's pissed and concerned. Good. The charges against him are serious (Note: aforementioned photo can be found at this link). Does that mean he's going to sequester himself until this is over in order to avoid adding any more indiscretions to the list? Ha-ha - we're talking about TFG, and we all knew he's going to open his fat mouth and bray on and on about this:
Former President Donald Trump delivered a grievance-ridden speech on Tuesday hours after facing arraignment on criminal charges in New York, casting himself as the victim of a political prosecution and railing against what he called a “lawless” justice system bent on ending his political career.

Speaking at Mar-a-Lago, his personal residence and private club in Palm Beach, Fla., Trump went on an extended tirade against Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, whose office indicted Trump last week in a case involving hush money payments to a porn star to cover up an alleged extramarital affair.

[...]

But Trump made clear that he wasn’t only focused on those charges. He also went after law enforcement officials in Georgia and Washington, D.C., investigating other potential crimes.

[...]

He also defended his handling of classified documents he took with him upon leaving the White House in 2021, saying he took the documents “in good faith” and was being treated unfairly by the National Archives and Records Administration.

He also rehashed older grievances, mentioning the FBI’s investigation into former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server during her tenure as the nation’s top diplomat and bringing up his two impeachments.

Of course he's making money off of this. He also has his son doxxing the daughter of the judge in his case. These are the desperate actions of desperate people. They have absolutely no shame, and would sell their grandparents the Brooklyn Bridge.

Three-toed MTG (R-GA) tried to attend a protest rally yesterday, but got over-yelled, and seemed scared to death. It's unclear how more-respected members of Congress are reacting to it, but one republican - Mitch McConnell is keeping mum:
Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell (Ky.) and his top deputies stayed silent Tuesday as former President Trump plead not guilty to 34 felony counts, signaling how far they have diverged from their former ally.

Many Republican senators blame Trump for the loss of the Senate majority and the disappointing performance of Senate Republican last year.

[...]

McConnell, who hasn’t spoken to Trump since December of 2020, didn’t make any statement in response to the former president’s arrest Tuesday. He didn’t say anything when news of Trump’s indictment broke Thursday, either.

Instead, he put out a statement welcoming Finland’s accession to NATO, something he has championed since last year.

This feels like the slow circling around the top of the bowl before the tempest drags him under. The ice has been broken, and it's time for the GA DOJ to add their fuel to the fire.

And please: LOCK HIM UP!
