Porn and Preaching in DC

Remember that time in 2023 when we learned that Speaker of the House, Mike Johnson, used an app called Covenant Eyes which claims to allow people to live a porn-free life? He named his son as his accountability partner. Remember that?

Here's the refresher link. A guardian reporter tried it out, and it seems it didn't go very well, (or maybe it went well after all.) but I digress.

A few days ago, ProPublica published an article about the living arrangement for Johnson. As you might have assumed, it's a bit weird.
Evangelical pastor Steve Berger’s political influence campaign operates out of his D.C. townhouse. In addition to House Speaker Mike Johnson living there, a prominent Trump ally, Rep. Andy Ogles, has the keys.

(snip)

The six-bedroom, $3.7 million home is owned by a multimillion-dollar Republican donor.

Rep. Andy Ogles, a Tennessee Republican who is among President Donald Trump’s most aggressive allies in Congress, has been at the house on multiple days over the past two weeks, according to people who live in the area. Video reviewed by ProPublica showed Ogles leaving the townhouse with bags on Feb. 27. As he left, he locked up the front door and pocketed the keys to the house.

(snip)

Perhaps no one is more responsible for Ogles’ rise in politics than Lee Beaman, the Tennessee businessman who owns the Capitol Hill townhouse. When Ogles announced a short-lived Senate bid in 2017, Beaman said he planned to raise $4 million to support the run. Beaman, whose wealth derives from a large car dealership chain, then served as campaign treasurer in Ogles’ successful 2022 run for the House.
A pastor, a Speaker and a congressman walked into a townhouse. There is no punch line. Unless, of course, if you count emotional punches.
In her trial brief, Beaman’s fourth wife Kelley alleges that Lee Beaman made her watch videos of him having sex with a prostitute — what he called “training videos.” On more than one occasion, Kelley Beaman alleges, her husband persuaded her to have joint sexual encounters with prostitutes. Kelley Beaman says that Lee Beaman was so addicted to pornography that he would watch it on his iPad while sitting in the same room as his family, including his minor son.

(snip)

Among his frequent donations to both local and national conservatives, Beaman made a maximum contribution to Roy Moore’s U.S. Senate campaign three days after The Washington Post reported allegations that the former Alabama judge had sexual relationships with teenagers while he was in his 30s. Beaman has given more than $40,000 to groups supporting Marsha Blackburn’s campaign for Senate.
Ogles, Moore and Blackburn all took money from this creep -- gladly. Why would a pastor and the prayer warrior anti-porn crusading speaker of the house be living in a town house owned by an alleged porn addict?

Next time you see Mike Johnson, look at him as though he was a willing hostage, because that is what I see now. These people are just awful people who are in a cult that seems to go beyond MAGA. They believe in power and subjugation. Try to figure out who is who.
