For they sow the wind, and they shall reap the whirlwind

That seems to be the case in our country today. This maladministration is sowing chaos, and as a result everything is in turmoil. There are way to many outrageous affronts to our democracy happening right now to even try to focus on any of them and provide some sort of perspective. Instead, today I'll look at the growing response to this whirlwind which will eventually blow the Republicans out of power.

Last month, the off-year elections were a bloodbath for the Republicans. Democrats won nearly every race, and those where they didn't were historically closer than they've ever been. The Orange Menace may be doing Putin's bidding, but his supporters (and those on the fence) are the ones feeling the pain.

Yesterday, there was a run-off election for mayor in Miami, which has been a long-time Republican stronghold due to the Cuban ex-pat community. For the first time in nearly 30 years, a Democrat won the seat, and for the first time ever, that democrat is a woman:
Democrat Eileen Higgins has won the Miami mayoral race in Florida, the first time someone from her party has done so in nearly 30 years.

A former county commissioner, Higgins won the runoff election by securing 59% of the votes, defeating her Republican competitor Emilio Gonzalez, who was endorsed by President Donald Trump and got nearly 41%, according to official results.

Speaking to supporters at her election celebration party, Higgins said: "Miami chose a new direction... you chose competence over chaos."

Higgins' victory continues a string of recent Democratic wins.

With her win, Higgins, 61, also becomes the first woman to be elected to the post, US media reported.

[...]

Despite the race being officially non-partisan, Higgins received the support of several prominent Democrats, including former transportation secretary Pete Buttigieg.

In addition to Trump's endorsement, Gonzalez was also backed by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.

Pedo McYamTits has the merde touch, and his rotten influence on politics is sinking his party like a rat-eaten ship.

Day 324... 1135 to go.
