Same as it Ever Was

It's a new year, and time for new insanities. During the wee hours of Jan 01, we invaded a sovereign power (in case you don't know what that means, here's Dubya with perfectly good explanation). Yesterday was also the 5 year anniversary of the Jan 06 coup attempt. Mixed in with all of this is Pedo McYamTits just being the complete asshole that he is.

After Jan 06, 2021, a plaque was created to honor those who defended the Capitol from the insurrectionists. It's not where is should be, and may be lost:
Approaching the fifth anniversary of the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol, the official plaque honoring the police who defended democracy that day is nowhere to be found.

It’s not on display at the Capitol, as is required by law. Its whereabouts aren't publicly known, though it’s believed to be in storage.

House Speaker Mike Johnson, a Louisiana Republican, has yet to formally unveil the plaque. And the Trump administration’s Department of Justice is seeking to dismiss a police officers' lawsuit asking that it be displayed as intended. The Architect of the Capitol, which was responsible for obtaining and displaying the plaque, said in light of the federal litigation, it cannot comment.
Aren't these the same people who claim that statues honoring Confederate generals are "teaching history" and should be on public display?

Getting back to Venezuela, it's possible that the person who will end up "running the country" (until the oil companies can get a firm foothold), will be none other than the self-hating Jew:
Hours after Saturday’s surprise attack, President Donald Trump told reporters the U.S. will seize Venezuela’s oil reserves and “run” the country for the foreseeable future, though he’s been vague on what exactly that means.

With Trump mostly relying on a small group of business insiders to handle foreign affairs after he gutted foreign policy infrastructure, the White House is considering giving Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller a key role overseeing post-Maduro operations in Venezuela, The Washington Post reported.

It’s not clear how any U.S. official can “run” a foreign country of 30 million people.

But to the extent that the administration plans to try—Trump said he’s “not afraid to have boots on the ground” if necessary—the more obvious choice would be Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who has spent much of his career as a Venezuela hawk and has emerged as the face of the takeover.

Rubio, however, already has his hands full as the nation’s top diplomat, acting administrator of the U.S. Agency for International Development, and acting archivist for the National Archives and Records Administration.

That means the daily handling of Venezuela could fall to [Stephen] Miller, who is largely responsible for the president’s mass deportation drive, according to the Post.
(bold-face mine)

This does not bode well at all. Venezuela has already been thrown into chaos, and there are paramilitary gangs roaming the streets. It's going to get a lot worse before it gets better.

Finally for Dozin' Don being himself, he's halting Social Services money from being sent to 5 states. You can guess the political inclinations of said states:
The Trump administration plans to halt billions of dollars in federal funding for social services programs in five states led by Democrats following allegations of fraud, a Department of Health and Human Services official said Tuesday.

The move will freeze $7 billion for the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families program, nearly $2.4 billion for the Child Care Development Fund and roughly $870 million for social services grants that largely benefit children. The states affected are Minnesota, New York, California, Illinois and Colorado.

Keep it up Orange Twatwaffle - the midterms are this year...

Day 352... 1107 to go.
