The Merde Touch (redux)
Author: BobR    Date: 07/08/2026 13:21:54

It's a common notion that Pedo McYamTits has the "Merde Touch" - everything he touches turns to shit. One of the more recent examples include the NY Knicks losing the one game he attended during the finals in their ultimate triumph in the NBA championship. He also decided to intervene in the World Cup by convincing FIFA officials to restore Folarin Balogun's status to play (because he - in all his soccer wisdom - thought it wasn't a foul), in a game that the US Men's soccer team lost badly.

It turns out that the latter was built upon an uncalled foul against WNBA star Caitlin Clark:
U.S. President Donald Trump weighed in on Phoenix Mercury forward Alyssa Thomas' flagrant-2 foul on Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark on Monday, July 6.

Trump was addressing the media and was asked about his intervention on behalf of star U.S. forward Folarin Balogun, whose red-card suspension was reversed, allowing him to play in a World Cup match against Belgium on Monday.

During Trump's answer about why Balogun should not have received a red card, he alluded to the Thomas-Clark play — which took place on June 24."I thought your young, wonderful basketball player -- Caitlin (Clark) -- I thought she was treated rather rough, if you want to know the truth," Trump said. "That was a much different kind of an event. That was a pretty bad event."

The foul was missed in real time but Thomas received the flagrant 2, a one-game suspension and a fine after the WNBA reviewed the play.

Wow, so he's a rules expert for both soccer AND basketball. Who knew?

His need to sow chaos and interject himself into everything is causing some problems with NATO:
U.S. President Donald Trump on Wednesday ordered an immediate halt to all trade with NATO ally Spain, escalating tensions over defence spending and the Iran war, despite European Union rules requiring trade negotiations to be conducted as a single bloc.

During a NATO summit ?in Ankara, which European leaders had hoped would cap rifts within the military alliance, Trump instead reignited the dispute with Spain, calling it a "terrible ?partner". He also irked another NATO ally Denmark by reiterating that his country should control Greenland. Denmark promised to defend every inch of its territory.

[...]

Trump has also ?repeatedly expressed frustration with Spain after Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, ?a Socialist who leads a minority leftist government, refused to let the U.S. use its airspace or bases for the Iran war.

[...]

Sanchez's office said in a statement it was treating Trump's statements as "business as usual" and did not intend to change the "excellent" relations it enjoyed with Washington.

And there it is. Spain's refusal to participate in Mango Mussolini's illegal war with Iran is bringing out the usual petty response. However, this isn't "The Apprentice" and he can't arbitrarily single out one member of NATO. Spain, to its credit, is treating him like a petulant child and ignoring his kneejerk temper tantrum. Like a dog walker, they just pick up the poop and keep going.
