Today is our 299th day back in Iraq.

There has been a new casualty in Afghanistan - more on that in a minute.

We'll head to nearby Whitinsville, MA. It's a small town in the middle part of the state - essentially a southern suburb of Worcester. Last Wednesday, Specialist John Dawson was killed in Afghanistan after an Afghan soldier opened fire on his US escorts while on a mission.

I've written before about how the Republicans rant about the Mooslims enacting Sharia Law here in the United States, and yes - it's still absurd. What makes it all so aggravating is that they are still trying to enact Christian-based laws with nary a clue to their hypocrisy.

This is even more stupid when they claim to be the party that supports the Constitution. They've even demonized John McCain for abandoning their supposedly Constitutionally-based philosophy (and coming from Ken Cuccinelli of all people). First the Republican house leadership invited a foreign leader to address Congress without consulting the Executive office. I wrote about how I despised the politics behind Prime Minister Netenyahu's speech a few weeks ago. The crux of it was to stop negotiations with Iran to prevent nuclear weapon capabilities. The GOP pushed it further when 47 Senators wrote a letter to Iran basically telling them to pay no attention to our democratically-elected president. BobR wrote about it here.
