I sometimes really dislike blogging on Monday mornings. This morning is rougher than usual. A post super bowl Monday leaves me with visions of first downs and touchdown in my head.

So until August, I bid adieu to football, and will let my fellow bloggers carry the sports mantle thru the rest of Hockey season and into Baseball.

I'll not comment on the "Elaborate" half-time show. I'll not comment on the commercials. It was a fun game, and football the way football should be played.

I'm not even going to comment on the pre-game interview President Obama gave to Bill O'Reilly. I didn't watch it. I refuse to give it credence, altho I do understand it is a super bowl tradition that the president give and interview to the network airing the show. Personally, I don't mind him giving this interview, there is a good chance that some people actually saw him that might otherwise not. Anyway...

Farewell NFL football. Until next season, I'll be missing you --Unlike the GOP who begins more of it's silly games this week.

So AOL is buying HuffPo... Does everyone start to get free CD's every week, again?

Comment by wickedpam on 02/07/2011 14:13:08
lol - maybe then the AOL main page with "news" will stop looking so right-wingy

I was thinking about the Reagan Centennial and that the whole "naming everything Reagan" campaign will go into high gear - his face will probably be on Mount Rushmore soon, if I was a con, here would be my suggestions:

The Ronald Reagan White House
The Reagan U.S. Constitution
The Ronald Reagan National Museum
The Ronald Reagan Grand Canyon
Ronald Reagan Mountains (formerly the Appalachian Mountains)
Ronald Reagan Falls (formerly Niagara Falls)
The Ronald Reagan Lincoln Memorial
Reagan (formerly the state of California)

Just off the top of my head

Did we celebrate FDR's 100th birthday -- (which was in 1982) like this? Will we celebrate JFK in such a way?

can someone help me here? I was over at Time Warner's wiki page -- I wanted to see when AOL was sold from Time Warner, and all I could find was this:

On May 28, 2009, Time Warner announced that it would spin off AOL as a separate independent company, with the change occurring on December 9, 2009.
Does this mean that it still owns AOL?

Does that mean that Huffpo and CNN are owned by the same entity?

Yep. A spin-off makes it a separate division but it's still the same ownership. This is what CBS did with Viacom and what Cablevision did with MSG and they are planning to do with Rainbow..

Good morning everyone.

Actually got up a little early today. Good thing I am on vacation. I can get up and listen to Momma in the morning although I just missed the Rude Pundit segment..

And as some of you have found out I am on Twitter now although I am using my real name instead of my handle since I have a number of facebook political people who are not here. Since last night, I am following 155 people and have 12 followers.

caught the commericals this morning - the Darth commercial was cute, I like the Coke one's too - I'm a sucker for a positive message, and I saw the trailer for Super 8 - looks interesting

Groupon. and I found that incredibly insensitive. It was terrible.

It was important for me to see the Thor and Captain America movies since as a comic book nerd I would want to see those. Although Thor looks a little buffed up as Don Blake if they are following the comic book.

Apart from the game, which was actually well-played and entertaining (and is supposedly the reason the other crap sprung up around it), the rest of the Fox Super Bowel experience ranged from "meh" to execrable.

I substituted the O'rly in-love-with-himself fest with Puppy Bowl VII and the Kitty Half Time Show.

I suppose there's no hope left if you don't know the words to the National Anthem, and even Autotune can't fix your caterwauling.

Even the commercials fell short of expectations.

And was it REALLY WORTH putting in extra seats just for the game, then have to turn away 1000 fans because the seats weren't ready? If total attendance was that important just select the venue with the most seating.

That one had to sink in a little but I think it held to the theme that they've been doing with the US cars - very solid, very we're coming back, very American style - I liked it

Who knew that America won its independence thanks in part to the air superiority of the colonies?

That's the first time I watched either the Puppy Bowl all the way through or the Kitty Half Time show, so I have nothing to base it on.

Greetings from the twilight's last rampart!

Reagan: I'm a bit miffed that the Reagan Library has SAM 27000 (aka AF one), but at least it's not the Kennedy jet. (SAM 26000 is at the Air Force Museum in the presidential gallery where it belongs. Shouldn't the NASM have gotten the other one? But I digress...)

Stuporbowl: I only watched the kickoff festivities and the first series. Why would you have a flyover of a closed stadium? (Yeah, we heard jets, I think. It was cool!)

Spent the evening streaming live jazz from Small's in NYC and reading an actual book.

Aside to Raine: Football may be over, and baseball a few weeks off yet, but we've got the equivalent of the College Hockey Superbowl here these next two Mondays. The Beanpot! (sorry, only Boston teams invited. OK, maybe it's not the hockeybowl. It's kind of narrow-focus. And I digress again.)

Oh, and another thing....snarked from a friend in NH:

I'm not a Green Bay fan, but I'm glad to see the Lombardi Trophy go 'home'!

Kinda like when the ol' Naismith trophy ends up back in the Garden this spring.

If you fly close enough the roof gets sucked off?

I would have loved to see that especially in Dallas. That should be fun in the freezing cold when the Super Bowl is played in the new Meadowlands.
