Things That Piss Me Off
Author: BobR    Date: 03/07/2008 13:31:00

It's Friday and I should be happy it's almost the weekend. Yet after perusing the headlines, I'm pissed off. There are so many things, I can't tie them all together with quotes and commentary, so in a rare departure from my usual eloquence , I'll just give you the links and let you see for yourselves:

Yet another boogie-man al Qaeda scare, this time regarding the elections. Wolf!, I say...

KBR - which makes it's living off of tax dollars - creates shell companies in the Cayman Islands to avoid paying taxes. When are we going to make this sort of thing illegal??

Canada tosses conviction due to torture. Well THAT was certainly worth it... :grumble:

Spain does the same thing. What the hell are we doing?? :rage:

Homeland security agents committing the crimes they're supposed to stop. I sure am glad we have the DHS around to keep us safe... :rolleyes2:

U.S. Government has unfettered access to Verizon data. Yep - they've got a cable going in the back door and can listen to calls, read text messages - on anyone... without having to get a warrant.

Domestic Intelligence network being created. Kind of like the CIA but for collating data on Americans. Welcome to 1984.

Blood thinning drug (from China, of course) is diluted with counterfeit version of the drug, resulting in U.S. deaths. So they've moved on from killing pets and children to older folks. Maybe now the old farts in Congress that need these drugs will do something. FWIW - why do we have to import these from China?

Are you sufficently pissed yet too? I didn't even bother with all of Hillary's Republican-style campaign tactics (which is perhaps why I've been in a grumpy mood).

I don't want to send y'all off into the world feeling pissed too, though, so here's one brighter spot of news to end this on a high note:

Carter, Annan plan visit to Israel, Gaza to help negotiate ceasefire:
Former US president Jimmy Carter and former UN secretary-general Kofi Annan wish to arrive in Israel in the coming months in order to help negotiate a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, Army Radio reported.

The two contacted the Prime Minister's Office and requested to meet Prime Minister Ehud Olmert.

They also asked to be allowed in the Gaza Strip to meet with Hamas officials.

According to the report, Israel is opposed to the initiative, but officials said that Jerusalem would be well advised to try and channel the visit into a positive track so as not to damage the country's image in the media.

Can Jimmy Carter work his magic again? I hope so. Perhaps he can convince Israel that peace is another legitimate path to safety...

:peace:

Mr. Angry Man today?

Course there is an awful lot to be angry with these days. Didn't check all the links yet, but the Verizon data is one that really pisses me off, being one of their customers, er rather, "targets"? What would I be? And I'm paying them to look at my text messages and listen? I must be insane.

Soon.......soon..........

Miss Velveeta is close to death's door. So what does it matter. *cough* *sneeze* *ack*

Morning, folks. A couple of observations from the Northeast Corner today...

We've got an AWACS orbiting over Boston this morning. I saw the racetrack pattern high over the city when I was driving in, then again when we went across the street for breakfast....in my experience, only AWACS and tankers do that at altitude. It certainly wasn't a commercial jet, it was too high and the holding pattern for Logan Airport isn't directly over the city, either. (and don't think that I don't know where they are )

Has anyone else noticed the sudden, total extinction of the Hummer? I only noticed because I saw one on the road the other day, then realized that I haven't seen any on the road in literally weeks. Gas prices catching up with you there, small-penis folks?

Anyway, I digress. I should be in for Momma today!

Velveeta! Oh no...

Things that piss me off ( just this morning ):

- upselling..."Um, if I WANTED a hash brown I would have ORDERED IT!!!!"

- people who take their sweet a** time getting off the elevator that you are waiting for.

Other than that, happy friday Bloggie!

Sadly, I still see them. But, they aren't as ubiquitous as they used to be...you are right about that.

Good morning everyone.

Tri, if you didn't see my post last night, I would be interested in a meet-up if you go to Lancaster in August. It's only a few hours drive for me and it's been a while since I have been there. I do miss the Wilbur Chooclate Factory.

You must have given up on the Bruins for sure since they were crushed by the Maple Leafs 8-2.

I was IM'ing with one of my friends last night and she is supporting Hillary and went so far as to say "If Hillary doesn't win the primary, I am crossing over and voting for John McCain."

She doesn't see it that way. I am stunned to see how different our views are politically. She has been living between San Francisco and the Phillipines for the past 3 years, so we don't talk nearly as much as we used to and I just never realized ....

yikes.

The last time there were that many people in a stadium was during "Hurricane Katrina." They managed not to really "cover" it then.

Comment by livingonli on 03/07/2008 14:41:33
Project much. I see many conservatives who live in an elite bubble who only listens to view like their owns. Think of the people who only get their information from Fox News, right-wing talk radio and right-wing web sites..

He is a bit Editorial, but he usually prefaces that by saying it's his "Special Comment." I think that is the way journalism has gone in general though. It's rare that you don't get Editorializing.

But, of all the Big Media Anchors/Pundits/Journalists Keith is the best.

I know there's a UNN thread encouraging people to boycott Jamaica though because of all the homophobic violence there has been there of late which seems to be encouraged by the lyrics of some of the dancehall artists.
