They haven't run the numbers
Author: Raine    Date: 08/16/2012 13:01:08

I'm going to leave you with a quick stub for now, but an important one. From Media Matters:
Last night, newly ensconced Republican vice presidential nominee Paul Ryan sat down for his first solo interview with Fox News' Brit Hume and let slip an admission about Mitt Romney's budget plan -- an admission that's receiving surprisingly little press attention. Asked by Hume when the Romney plan would balance the budget, Ryan said he didn't know because "we haven't run the numbers on that specific plan."

First, Mitt Romney has been going around telling everyone that, if elected, he intends to balance the federal budget by the end of his second term, or shortly thereafter. Ryan says that they don't know when Romney's plan will balance the budget. If Ryan is right, then what is Romney basing that claim on?

So not only are we told that there will be no tax returns released to the public, the Romney campaign has admitted that they don't even have a budget. What they have is a generalization, or as the Bush administration once said of leaving Iraq: It is based upon "a general time horizon for meeting aspirational goals"

Sounds great, just great.

Just like in 2008, it looks like we are going to have to (re) elect (President) Obama to ensure the job gets done.

and
Raine

Mitt Accused of stealing music

You'd think they would learn to ask for permission from the artist not from the company selling the music.

I shard this last night, but I wanted to re-post here.

I found this in the comment section over at the Obama Diary. I think it is worth sharing. Have you ever been rejected for a job? Perhaps you received a letter like this. Actually, I doubt you have, because I suspect you complied with your potential employer.

From Poster Earl Gray:

Dear Mr. Romney,

We have contacted you now several times regarding your missing tax returns for years ending 2000 through 2011. To date we have only received a partial return for year ending 2010 and a “projection” of taxes for year ending 2011. Unfortunately this is inadequate documentation to evaluate your financial history and allegiances, which are critical to understand your previous behavior.

Given the disappointing Swiss bank accounts and Cayman shell corporations that we have previously discussed, these documents are now critical to better understand your past financial background. This understanding is in turn required in order to make an informed decision regarding your capability to perform the financially sensitive position that you have applied for.

If you have recently released the tax returns for years ending 2000-2011, please accept our sincere apology and we will continue to evaluate your application. If however we do not receive your tax records for the years ending 2000-2011 , we regret that we will be unable to process your application, and unable to consider you for the position for which you have applied.

If this is the case, we want to send our appreciation for your effort and application and encourage you to reapply when you are better able to meet with our admittedly high standards.

Thank You and Best Regards.
The American People.

Aubert also says Romney's a victim of irony ... because "he is inadvertently playing a song that describes his whole campaign."

Time is never worth my time
Blue shine bleeds into my eyes

I still sleep on the right side
But white noise can't leave the scene behind

Could I be anything you want me to be
If so is it meant to be seen

When you see yourself in a crowded room
Do your fingers itch are you pistol whipped
Will you step in line or release the glitch
Can you fall asleep with a panic switch

When you see yourself in a crowded room
Do your fingers itch are you pistol whipped
Will you step in line or release the glitch
Do you think she'll sleep with a panic...

I'll try to hold on tight tonight
Pink slip inviting me inside
Want to burn skin and brand what once was mine
But the red views keep ripping the divide

If I go everywhere you want me to go
How will I know you'll still follow

When you see yourself in a crowded room
Do your fingers itch are you pistol whipped
Will you step in line or release the glitch
Can you fall asleep with a panic switch

When you see yourself in a crowded room
Do your fingers itch are you pistol whipped
Will you step in line or release the glitch
Do you think she'll sleep with a panic...

Movements are made slow motion in frame
I'm waiting and fading and floating away
The curtains are torn and the setting decayed
I'm waiting and fading and floating...

I'm waiting and fading and floating away
I'm waiting and fading and floating away
I'm waiting and fading and floating away
Waiting and fading
Waiting and fading

When you see yourself in a crowded room
Do your fingers itch are you pistol whipped
Will you step in line or release the glitch
Can you fall asleep with a panic switch

When you see yourself in a crowded room
Do your fingers itch are you pistol whipped
Will you step in line or release the glitch
Do you think she'll sleep with a panic...

This is an odd song to choose for a political campaign.

Good morning, bloggers!!

Raine, is it me or are we being asked to trust Romney on blind faith? I would no more trust someone to say they will save my country financially and not give a budget than I would hire a contractor to fix a roof without getting a reliable estimate? This is not a good business practice.

I actually like the song "Panic Switch." It has a sense of frenzy and obsession, which ironically describes the Romney campaign right now.

What is it with the Republican party. Aren't they all about respect property rights. There are other froms of property besides real. Like, for example, intellectual property or (for my VA peeps) personal property. When you are using other people's property you get permission first. Easy to understand.

Not surprisingly, they're loving VP Ryan. A couple of them are thinking this has changed the tone of the election to more economic issues. ("now there's a clear choice, blah blah blah.)

I still think Romney just lost.

And it's probably time to start checking this every day again.

It was the summer of '92...I was driving home on the Penna Turnpike from Ohio, and we had stopped at some godforsaken rest stop.

A pasty-white, balding, overweight gentleman wearing nothing but overalls stepped out of a nearby 18-wheeler.

We could only point and say "ELVIS!!"

Fall planting -

We didn't get any cuc's this year, mom is very sad about that since she couldn't make pickles. Think we may still have 1 cantaloupe still going - its a watch and see. Lima's did nothing - plants looked nice but the pods didn't fill out. Beans still going. Carrots still going (just haven't pulled them yet). Sweet Potatoes don't get pulled for at least another month.

Think we trying beets again - we got some in spring but didn't use them fast enough. Turnips - I like turnip chips :), not sure what else.

Have to start drying some of the herbs - Lemon balm, rosemary, german thyme, greek basil. Never found any oregano to plant this year

hoohaw... Romney: I Never Paid Less Than 13 Percent In Taxes

But I did go back and look at my taxes and over the past 10 years I never paid less than 13 percent. I think the most recent year is 13.6 or something like that. So I paid taxes every single year. Harry Reid’s charge is totally false. I’m sure waiting for Harry to put up who it was that told him what he says they told him. I don’t believe it for a minute, by the way. But every year I’ve paid at least 13 percent and if you add in addition the amount that goes to charity, why the number gets well above 20 percent.
Well, prove it liar.

Warren G. Harding.

W. Mitt Romney.

Spend some time comparing and contrasting.

And then of course, there are those great Business major Presidents like Hoover and W which could also be compare and contrasted.

Hoover wasn't a B major. He studied geology at Stanford.

And in a big surprise, Cablevision finally cut a deal to add NFL Network and NFL Red Zone to their lineup after all the years of bitching that they would never add it as long as they could not get Sunday Ticket.

How can so many people be so fooled by this lying sheister called Mitt Romney?

He has not paid any income taxes for over ten years, I am more and more clear on that.

Raine, thanks for the update on Thom!

Mondo, I think that it may be way too late for a Bill and Ted sequel. Time has passed and I am not sure that the movie would work.

Sadly, P.T. Barnum may have been right.

Mike Newcomb is in for Thom Hartmann again, so I will listen to Nicole Sandler. Hopefully, both Ed Schultz and Thom will be well soon.
I am hoping Thom will be well soon as well. He's doing better, this I can report.

I'll be manning the phones for the last 2 hours tomorrow. Don;t know who is hosting tho.

For me yep, esp since I prefer them when I'm doing pen and ink - more control, and they are expensive pens. Got about 20-30 of them. They'd been hiding in someones drawer
