We were talking about this at the meeting last night.

We're far too trusting.

Fitzgerald Elementary School, where my Cub Pack Meets, is gated and set back off the road. All the doors are always locked, and you need to be 'buzzed in' to the office, right inside the main door. It's been my experience that they always buzz everyone in, usually without checking to see who it is.

But that's it - the rest of the school isn't zoned off. Once you're in the building, you're in with access to 3 floors of young children. Hell, if you timed it right, there would be 300 kids sitting in the cafeteria right across from the office, with just two doors to get out. (plus running through the kitchen.)

We shouldn't have to think about tactical defense in a school building. But at least a "Sally Port" to get through the front door might actually help.

That, or requiring everyone who wants to own a gun to join the National Guard. "Well-Regulated Militia", anyone?

Well I think the Mayans were right -- the end must be near when I find myself persuaded by Michael Savage.
Savage also questioned why the shooter’s mother owned the guns considering the mental state of her child who has been said to be autistic or possibly a victim of Asperger’s Syndrome. Savage questioned why Nancy Lanza needed a military-grade weapon. Mrs. Lanza owned the guns used by her son in the shooting. More on that aspect of the story here.

Savage cited the gun control law of 1968 and suggested that people on antidepressants be added to the list of those who are prohibited from owning guns. Savage cited the Columbine, Colorado, shooting. One of the shooters, Eric Harris, was on the antidepressant, Luvox.

I would think that the "well regulated militia" clause in the 2nd Amendment would allow for gun restrictions since it really means contrary to the NRA that the right to own a gun is not absolute.

Raine, I'm gonna have to correct your list down yonder. Chuck Norris is NOT an actor. Just someone who pretends to be an actor. Just wanted to point that out. Wouldn't want him in the same league as Judy Dench or George Clooney or even Lindsay Lohan. :shudder:
