Sorry gang,
I am not computer savvy enough to figure out how to post my machete-done photoshop fun, so I will just send you to my blog for my Monday morning greeting to all of mi amigos. [Ed Note: It wasn't your problem - it's the blog software. I uploaded your pictures to the FourFreedoms photobucket so they could be displayed!]

This is kinda funny...

Sen. Hillary Clinton’s mailing attacking Sen. Barack Obama’s record on guns appears to include a striking visual gaffe: The image of the gun pictured on the face of the mailing is reversed, making it a nonexistent left-handed model of the Mauser 66 rifle.

To make matters worse, a prominent gun dealer said, it’s an expensive German gun with customized features that make it clearly European.

“The gun in the photo does not exist,” said Val Forgett III, president of Navy Arms in Martinsburg, W.Va. Forgett's company was Mauser’s agent in the United States when the gun was released, and it sold Mauser guns here again in the 1990s. “The bolt is facing to the left side of the receiver, making it a left-handed bolt action rifle, indicating whoever constructed and approved the mailer did not recognize the image has been reversed.”

Forgett said the error would be obvious to sportsmen.

“I find it laughable on its face,” he said. “It’s like a picture of Babe Ruth hitting right-handed.”

From Americablog, regarding Hillary's appearance on "this Week"

They are correct, George Stephanopoulas is not part of the story, and that is a REAL problem.

You know, I was sitting here thinking about McCain and Hillary's proposal's for a gas taw holiday from Memorial to Labor day... Do either one of them realize that memorial day is left than a month away? And that they would have to actually show up to get the thing out of session and onto the floor for a VOTE?

Comment by jd_in_ny on 05/05/2008 13:30:53
Randi is coming back to Ithaca progressive radio, too! Woohoo!

About F'ing time!!!

CNN’s “American Morning”: Attacked Clinton’s gas plan and her “obliterate” remark about Iran, comparing it to Bush’s language. “If you’re running for president, you shouldn’t be stirring up international incidents.” John Roberts said CNN has declared a “Rev. Wright-free zone”– “our viewers want us to move on.”

A full report from Webelos Woods…

Of all things, my dentist has a boy in Pack 2, Milton. Guess who we camped with this weekend? I try to be a good patient for the good doctor, chief among my concerns is not biting his fingers off or crying out in pain in his chair. So it was an interesting change of pace to see him all timid and meek in the woods. He’s still a good guy, though…and his son is a very bright boy.

Since this was Webelos, it was mostly inexperienced parents out there. It was really neat to wind up the campsite leader…I ran everything this weekend, and wouldn’t you know it, ours was the only campsite that didn’t have any problems with fire or cooking or ordinary “camp” stuff.

Leaving Sunday morning, one of the parents from 2 Milton was chuckling as I strode by with full kit on my back…”Look at Dave, he’s saying “I can do this with one hand tied behind my back blindfolded!” Of course, I could afford to be a little smug at that point…

About that hot coal…we had to get 40 lbs. of charcoal burning for a foil-dinner cooking event Sat evening. I already had a raging fire going with a decent bed of coals when they dropped off the charcoal, so I just dropped both bags in the fire, paper and all. As the bags burned, the briquettes went everywhere, so I was barehanding them back into the fire circle. Right as I told the kids not to try this at home, I picked up the one that was black on the top and white on the bottom. Good 2nd degree burn on the ol’ fingertip…

And then at closing, I was talking to the council bigwigs about getting back on camp staff for some of these events, and helping to plan the fall Webelos event….when I had to mention that this is my 20th year as a Scouter. Our District Executive said something curious…”Maybe it’s time to turn pro?”

I must admit, I’ve never considered doing so. And I bet you didn’t know there were paid, professional scouting positions out there… I’m thinking it’s worth a look.

Buenos dias.

How did I end up staying up late watching the Dallas-San Jose playoff game which went into Quadruple Overtime. And it was strange that Versus used the TSN feed for the game instead of producing a game between American teams.

I think the "not bathing" thing is an urban myth. Most of the folks I met there were very clean. They just don't seem to use deoderant, and/or dry-cleaning is VERY expensive, so they don't clean their clothes as often.

Riding the bus on a hot day can be pretty overwhelming...

I asked ms Faye to do last monday's bloggie,. This morning as I was trying to come up with SOMETHING to write (and not succeeding)

I, in a moment of delusional and nonsensical hope, pushed the 'latest' button and somehow, magically as if she had phychic powers, there was Fayes blog post!

IT was all very strange and wonderful... Thanks faye!
