We have to turn a corner.
Author: Raine    Date: 04/24/2014 13:06:48

The last time I felt this way was in the 90's as the so-called Moral Majority was increasing its stranglehold on the country. I remember Waco, Ruby Ridge and the Oklahoma bombing. I did not shed a tear when Timothy McVeigh was silenced forever.

It's not a good sign when voices like Randi Rhodes aren't able to offer solutions. It's worse when they just decide to throw in the towel and walk away.

I haven't given up. I'm trying to find a solution and a beacon that can guide us out of crazy land.

I feel overwhelmed by the garbage that the politics of DC is churning out. Overwhelmed by the misrepresentation by our media and disheartened that people believe so many lies. I am overwhelmed by the money in politics.

It's hard to keep up with it all, and yet, I still feel a need to try to dispel myths and lies.

We are becoming a nation that has no sense of nuance, and that makes us our own worst enemy.

It's a sad state of affairs when we have citizens that hold a racist rancher in Nevada as a heroic patriot and hold our President with disdain and hate.

It's quite overwhelming.

It's hard to write about it.

I care very much, maybe too much. One thing I know is that we have to turn a corner. This road is dangerous.

I know we are all about the same age, am I wrong?

I actually understand and am glad the Government backed off in Nevada. That WAS going to be another ruby Ridge type incident.

It's looking like the 29th of June. Scoop said he would be down for a gaming convention so he can be here for the gathering as well.

Darrell Issa strikes out again!

As his Rudeness said, "Hey, @DarrellIssa, you should have to suck Elijah Cummings' dick in the hearing room with the mic on."

YOu know a part of me wishes that we had as rabid a base as the RW to scream and yell to the rafters as to how we are so very very oppressed.

I despise these people.

Good morning, bloggers!! I hope that everyone is well.

Raine, hang in there. I have seen some dark times in this country and world, and read about others. The key is to not lose hope. Hope can be an act of defiance.

We need to believe that we have the power to change things. Also, I think that we need a progressive movement that can influence things inside and outside of political parties. Too often, progressives focus on a single cause - LGBQ rights, the environments, medical care, education, campaign financing -- without seeing the connections between them. Campaign financing problems and the corruption that we have impacts many of the issues that I just mentioned and is one of the great problems in this country.

Here is an article that I shared before that talks about how to create great, peaceful change. Six People You Need To Start A Revolution by Sarah Robinson.

Jacob Dean did a program recently on successful social movements. Next week, Jacob Dean will be in for Nicole Sandler on Radio or Not from Monday through Wednesday. (He is asking for callers, so I will try to call in.)

Do not lose hope, my friends. This great old song may help.

Comment by TriSec on 04/24/2014 17:15:51
Hi everyone. My name is TriSec, and I'm a planeaholic.

I can't get any deeper than this. I have recently discovered that the RR Trent-900 (Boeing 777) has a very similar engine note to the RB-211 (Lockheed Tristar). I've been watching way too many videos recently.

I think I may need help.

You know, he can keep wondering all he wants, but when he wonders into a mic for all the world to hear and ponder his thoughts and support his thoughts, he's a racist mysogyinst sexist POS shit that is sucking off the teats of the American people.

I am sick and tired of White men of a certain age deciding that they have a right to tell women and people of color what a better world it would be if we only listened to them.

They are the ones who have a problem because they are the ones that are being told they need to share the fairness. They need to understand that what they think equality is, isn't equality at all.

So, I go to the nursery…

I figured I wanted some lunch and I wanted to stop at the bagel shop…

It's closed. the only REAL bagel (as in they boiled them on site) place in the area has closed its doors.

And then I get to the nursery and wait 20 offing minutes behind two woman that are stupid and clueless and think that a checkout line is where you have the person at the register go and get everything you want.

not heard of them before - they sound cool.

Too bad everyone is pissed of at the tomato thieves that could have been interesting to check out. As it stands right now, no one is growing tomatoes.
