Blog greeting.

Morning

Comment by Scoopster on 10/27/2016 13:14:22
Mornin' all!

So yesterday we got the news that there's 189k more names on the voter rolls in RI than estimated by the most recent census, six years ago. The local pathetic-shell-of-a-newspaper, the Providence Journal, had an article about it that was pretty slanted in its tone and didn't even mention totally plausible reasons why, including names that appear twice because someone moved and, of course, new registered voters.

As if thousands of new voters is a bad thing.

I hate to be "that guy" but I have to be.

The author of the KOS diary talks about GOP voter intimidation in elections in 1981? Elections for what, where? 1981 wasn't a federal election year. The link the the TPM article is as equally vague as to the origin of the consent degree. The PDF is about the current legal action. It does discuss the original consent decree by describing the voter intimidation in New Jersey in the "early 1980s." It doesn't specify a year. The KOS diary is mangled telling of the tale.

Let me Google that for you...

(1981 was probably a typo)

Bob, don't be a tool. What I am trying to say is that the diary entry is incredibly lazy, it is shot on citations and long on snarl language.

"We have three major voter suppression operations under way," another campaign official told Green and Issenberg. The campaign is targeting young white liberals, young women and black voters with negative ads focused on Hillary Clinton's politics, Bill Clinton's past and comments Clinton made in the 1990s about black criminals.
They openly admit to voter suppression.

Bipartisan Report, one of the sites I avoid because of the click bait headline. It is the same sort of stuff that Brietbart, Drudge and Newsmax thrive on. Just because it confirms your confirmation bias doesn't make it true.

Here is a handy guide liberal click bait.

Hello, bloggers!!!

I hope that everyone is well.

As for the Trump and the RNC, I am losing my ability to be surprised by their actions.

Sooo.. heh.. about a week and a half ago I made the decision to stop smoking weed until after I get my new apartment. I want to give my current place a chance to air out and whatnot, plus it's helping me save money and concentrate on the effort.

I'm starting to realize this was a mistake, due to the major stress that this election has been causing.
