Footballs and Trucks and Beanpots

Good Morning.
I skimmed the news. I just can't. There's nothing new today that we haven't already written about extensively. Nevertheless, I'll post one - it's the littlest victim of Trump's Folly.
A four-month old baby was headed from Tehran to Portland (OR) for emergency heart surgery, until Trump said no. Four. Months. Old. She's probably just a plant so her parents could smuggle in nappy-bombs or something, to wreak mayhem amongst the populace.
Fortunately, Governor Cuomo (D-NY) is going to welcome her into the Big Apple, so she might yet get that surgery and grow up to be a terrorist anyway.
But of course, as the Seussian comic we've all seen recently notes, "But those were foreign children, and it really didn't matter." (BTW, there's plenty more from the good doctor.)
So that's pretty much all I've got for today. I will change gears, seeiing that there's an awful lot of sportiness happening this weekend that I should recognize.
First, there's a little football shindig going on tomorrow afternoon. I may even watch it. (Oh, and there's fried foods involved.)
But then about noon on the Monday after is the first real sign of spring around here - it's Truck Day!
Then Monday wraps up with the first leg of an esoteric local hockey tournament.
It's going to be a busy 48 hours, methinks.

(CNN)An Iranian infant with a heart defect is entangled in President Trump's immigration ban -- and her extended family in Oregon is on an urgent mission to get her to the US for critical surgery.
Fatemeh's parents were scheduled to meet with doctors in Portland on February 5, but were barred from traveling from Tehran to Portland, Fatemeh's uncle, Samad Teghizadeh, told CNN Thursday.
Several congressional Democrats released a letter Friday evening asking for Secretary of State Rex Tillerson to grant a waiver for the child and her parents to come into the country for surgery.
Though the baby's heart surgery is still in limbo, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo released a statement on Friday about the family being able to come to the US.
"This evening we were pleased to learn that the federal government has now granted Fatemeh Reshad and her family boarding documents to come to the United States," Cuomo said.
"We will continue to work with the International Refugee Assistance Project and their partners to ensure this baby receives the treatment she needs, and fight for those being unfairly shut out of America's gates by this policy."
Last month, Iranian doctors in Tehran told baby Fatemeh's family that the 4-month-old has structural abnormalities and two holes in her heart, but they lack the resources to treat the infant.
Fatemeh and her parents boarded a flight to Dubai on Saturday, but they were rerouted back to Iran and told to reapply for a US visa in 90 days.
Teghizadeh, a US citizen who lives in Portland, worries his niece will not make it until then.

Looking forward to seeing the Falcons in the Super Bowl.
I don't think I've ever seen the Beanpot, but I love hockey (and have to love Boston College, where Matt Ryan went to school), so I may keep my eye out for that.

Honestly, I don't know if the Beanpot has any traction outside the Greater Boston area, but there may be some coverage on one of the deeper ESPNs or obscure college hockey channels.
There's a ton of local lore built up around the tournament, it's usually pretty fun.
This is a house divided - Mrs. Trisec attended BC and BU, and I did a certificate program at Northeastern. We have no ties to Harvard, but we both hung out in The Square quite a bit back in the day.

Hasn't NESN been showing it these last few years? I remember when WSBK used to have back when it was on Long Island cable in the 80's. I think one year the short-lived Hub 66 showed it, and I am trying to think if it was on channel 50 in New Hampshire before migrating to NESN.
