Who is creating the terror? Not "That one"
Author: Raine    Date: 10/09/2008 12:13:59

By now, I am sure you have heard the federal government may nationalize part of our banks. Now I have said it before and I will say it again, economics are not my strong suit at all, but this appears to me to be a very bad idea.

On top of that, yesterday, the Federal Reserve gave AIG another 38 billion, and we have been told that the 700 billion dollar bailout package is going to take some time before it kicks in. I am starting to get a little concerned here. What the hell have these Republicans done to our country?

People are scared. They don't know what to do. They watch the rich getting richer and the poor getting poorer and there is a simmering anger brewing about. This is very relevant because in the meantime, we have 2 people running for high office that are stoking those flames and whipping that fear and anger -- and dare I say bitterness into racial and xenophobic hatred. That's is where I start to get nervous. The newest comment was "Off with His Head".

When people are scared, nervous frightened bitter -- insert any word here--- they react in the way that the environment around them does. John McCain and Sarah Palin have been tossing down gasoline and handing out matches. It's terrible considering we are in very dire times here in America. My level of disgust is real and intense. I trust Barack when he calls for cooler heads to prevail. I trust him when he says don't panic, but I do not trust these people that I am seeing at these Republican rallies-- especially the ones behind the podium.

In the end, people who go to McCain/Palin rallies are people we walk next to everyday. They are our co-workers, they are our neighbors, they are are our friends and even family. The economy is affecting them just as it is you and I. How Americans react to this crisis is completely dependent upon how our leaders act. Take a look around. It's very obvious who is leading steadily and who is erratic and chaotic. I think the answer is there.

What is becoming increasingly clear to me is that Barack Obama was given few billion pounds of extra crap to deal with once he takes office. I expect not to see everything that he has been trying to communicate to America, but at least I know he would rather be honest about the issues than get thousands of people distracted from real issues and fired up to a hate rally, as McCain/Palin have done-- and will conitinue to do. Americans deserve better than that, even if they don't realize it for themselves.

John McCain wants America to believe Barack Obama is a terrorist because he is desperate, just as desperate as the people who are on the verge of losing everything -- houses, jobs, savings. Desperate people trying to lead the same is just a recipe for chaos and mass destruction.

So who exactly is creating the terror?
The Republicans and this administration who caused this economic crisis in America. The ones who have been in charge of the house from 1996- 2006, The ones who have been in the executive branch since 2000. Now, they have John McCain and Sarah Palin steering the ship of hatred into the heart of what is left of middle class America.

We cannot afford this in America again. If we are to be a beacon of hope and goodness, we cannot allow these people to tear America apart down the lines of color, economic states and xenophobia. We must, as a nation, come together to help instead of hate, Our chances are running out here, and we simply must get Barack Obama elected. The alternative is truly terrifying.

I refused to let the terrorists win on 911™ and I refuse still today.

:peace: and
Raine

Morning folks... :coffee:

btw, I was working last night and didn't get a chance to comment on a couple things, so here they are:

Mondo: yes, some bottles are thicker than others

Livin: On Saturday's Phillie game, try to work in some shots of the crowd cussin' her out :P

Voter purging may violate federal law. It's nice to see this gaining some traction in the media...

EDIT: I spoke too soon. A quote from the article (I really should read this in their entirety before I post them):

The Times said voters appear to have been purged by mistake and not because of any intentional violations by election officials or coordinated efforts by any party.

This is the crux of it (for voter caging, anyway):

Some are removing voters from the rolls within 90 days of a federal election, which is not allowed except when voters die, notify the authorities that they have moved out of state, or have been declared unfit to vote.

Morning, comrades!

Puttering around a bit this morning. Waltham Schools are giving the Jewish holidays now, too. (is it appropriate to wish one a happy Yom Kippur?) In any case, we'll be heading up to the Topsfield Fair in a bit.

I believe that there should be NO PURGING FOR WHATEVER REASON before the election... If people care so much, then go check to see who may have dies AFTER the election and readjust from there.

This is bullshit.

Once again, if you can vote early, I suggest you do, in case you have been purged.

someone went to the Bethleham rally for McCain and talked to people going in - the comments from 2 ladies to the question of (and I paraphase) Do you think Obama is a terrorist?

Lady: "Well it's in his blood lines."

Questioner: "What does the mean do you really think-

Lady: "think about it. its in his -

lady2: "I think he is."

Lady: "all in his bloodlines"

it's paraphrased but that's pretty much what they said

Benjamin Franklin and the Glass Armonica.

There's a company in town that makes them.

Franklin's glass armonica was re-invented by master glassblower and musician, Gerhard B. Finkenbeiner (1930–1999) in 1984. After thirty years of experimentation, Finkenbeiner's prototype consisted of clear glasses and glasses with gold bands. Those with gold bands indicate the equivalent of the black keys on the piano. Finkenbeiner Inc., of Waltham, Massachusetts, continues to produce these instruments commercially.

A member of my scout troop was a dear friend of Mr. Finkenbeiner; his death remains a mystery, as he was a private pilot and disappeared over Southeast MA on the way to Hyannis. No trace of the plane was ever found.

Morning all :coffee2:

I am surprised that, you know, we've been seeing some pretty over-the-top attacks coming out of the McCain campaign over the last several days, that he wasn't willing to say it to my face. But I guess we've got one last debate. So presumably, if he ends up feeling that he needs to, he will raise it during the debate.

I never think of myself as a "color" so I have a hard time feeling ashamed of what people do or say based how if they have similar "coloring" for lack of a better word. I just feel ashamed that people can thinking about each other in general.

I remember I did something... really wrong when I was a kid.

My father thought I should go talk to my Grandfather about it.

Grandpa took me out for ice cream.

To make a long story short after I spilled the beans and a lot of tears. A lot of recriminations on myself. I asked my grand father what my punishment would be.

(And my grandfather said nothing the whole time.)

My grandfather said to me. "The difference between you and the other people involved with what you did is "YOU HAVE A SOUL THAT MAKES YOU FEEL BAD FOR WHAT HAS HAPPENED.""

That was my punishment the crushing guilt and the knowledge that I had disappointed people that mattered to me. (Worse than grounding and the usual ass kicking.)

I think the same wisdom applies to you.

You know it was wrong and even though you had nothing to do with it. You still feel bad even though you have nothing to feel bad for.
