8 days to undo 8 years.
Author: Raine    Date: 10/27/2008 12:29:49

8 days, everyone... 8 days to undo 8 long years of a failure of epic proportions.

Take a deep breath... close your eyes. Exhale. Allow yourself to believe that this can happen. Allow yourself to dream. Do you remember what it was like to imagine possibility? Pause. Breath again. Exhale. Open your eyes. Yes, the world is still here. Watching. We have 8 days to tell the world that we can do this, yes we can.

Each day will be more desperate than the next from the McCain/Palin ticket. It will get nastier and uglier. I can promise you that. However, we have all battled thru an extraordinary primary season, we have fought and disagreed and come back together again. It didn't just make our candidate stronger, it made us stronger too. Tired, yes. Weary, yes, suspicious yes... but stronger and more well informed than we were in years past.

Barack Obama has shown us over the past 2 years that he is the person best suited for the Office of President of the United States. Many of us on this blog did not choose Senator Obama as a first choice. Obama, however, led by example -- calm cool pragmatic and steady. In doing so, he has won over the hearts and minds of many new supporters. The Democratic party seems to be more united than ever before. Imagine what Barack can do for this country. That will be important as in the next 8 days, the nominee of the GOP will be showing the kind of leadership he wants for, and will give to, this country.

I don't think I need to tell you about that. This blog has often written on the subject of the erratic, negative, angry, nonsensical, divisive nature of John Sydney McCain and the insane meglomania of his VP nominee. This week, as they attack Senator Obama, I predict they will further attack themselves. Make no mistake, it will be mirrored in their supporters. As leaders go, so go those who chose them. We have seen that sharp contrast between the 2 parties magnified in the past few weeks.

So... in the next week, when things get too much... And you are feeling burnt out, tired, angry frustrated and just plain over it...Take a deep breath... close your eyes. Exhale. Take comfort that you are not alone.
http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/aa213/FourFreedoms/pastedGraphic-1.jpg

We made it this far, together... This man has shown us how to weather a storm. If Senator Obama can do this for nearly 2 years, we can surely get thru 8 short days, one day at a time, together. That's not hope, that is a promise. Plus, in case you didn't notice, we are winning. Now is the time to keep the resolve, and take it to the finish line.

8 days to start undoing 8 years.
Yes. We. Can.

:peace: and
Raine

Greetings, Comrades!

July 6, 1996.

No particular significance to the date, except this. It was 8 days before Mrs. TriSec and I wed.

Did any of you out there get married in a big church ceremony with all the trimmings?

Heading into the last week, this is what it feels like to me. All of it is in clear focus...

The tentative first steps in a relationship, the lengthy courtship, the commitment to a life together (or at least a presidential term...)

Then all the planning, arrangements, arguments....

This is what it feels like. 8 days to go. I've done all I can; all we can do is sit and wait right now.

Is it election day yet?

Yeah Raine,

I am on pins and needles just waiting for election day to arrive! I love that photo. I stopped by the Obama office and made some phone calls this weekend and picked up a couple more yards signs. !Viva Obama/Biden! Hope everybody has a great day!

Cheers,

Trouble with my stream this morning.

: big meatball over the plate :

Anyway, I've got KPHX running now. Momma's website wanted me to install "Silverlight", which made the stream go *poof*. Gotta uninstall the damn thing now, methinks.

Chances are, Silverlight works (I installed it last week) -- but the stream is out for everyone over on the SMS site... maybe hold off till Chris is back...??

Morning all! Late to the office again and what a messy, busy day it is...

So the usual routine when I'm late out of the house is to call my good friend who runs a car service to give me a quick lift to the park & ride in Barrington so I can catch the express bus.

While I always enjoy his professional service and fantasticly low rates (he didn't raise his fares a penny when gas prices were going nuts)... he's an unapologetic wingnut. As you can imagine, the ten minute ride is always quite a lively discussion. This morning the hot topic was media bias - and how Fox "News" always has "balance" and "thorouogh coverage of the topics" while CNN, MSNBC and even PBS are "slanted" and "don't show the facts".

Today I told him flat out that Fox isn't a news channel - it's "entertainment". He almost choked on his cigarrette.

You'd better be careful there youngling....if the Freepers get hold of your site, you may just be elevated among them.

They do agree with your assessment 100%...without having the intelligence to recognize satire, no matter how odious it may be.

I spit out the bait from your Saturday post, BTW. Not buying it.

Third parties suck, yes, but the one thing they are good at is shooting themselves in the foot.

My only point was that Third Parties prefer to piss and moan instead of actually doing the work to get into office.

Aw, that's OK. Quote me all you like....but with attribution!

I rather thought that was the point of my post on Saturday; ballot access is key to doing the work to getting in office. You can advertise, canvas, call, jawbone the media, everything you're supposed to to get attention and coverage, but if you're not on the ballot, it's all for naught.

Check some more into that; the two parties that control all 50 state election boards have stacked the deck to make it difficult or impossible to get on the ballot. What are they afraid of? *Actual* choice?

do you know how easy it is to get on a local election ballot? In my district alone there are more Non Dem/Reps on the ballot than Dem/Reps.

My entire point of it was to start from the bottom up, not top down.

If they make it hard for a third party to get onto the ballot for president, then don't. Change the strategy. Stop bitching about how unfair it is, do something else, try a different direction.

To do a war metaphor. Instead of bitching about the size of the opposing army, change your tactics to take it on.

My landlord brought home a stray kitten on Friday.. he (it's a tom) had been milling around the back of his flower shop for a while where one of his coworkers would feed him. He brought the kitten home in a carrier - or more accurately a cage meant for a small dog.

The kitten got through the bars, dug into my landlord's bonsai trees, and then buried himself in a old dusty unused closet. Took almost all of Sunday cleaning and digging to get things back to normal and the kitten into the open. I tell ya tho, when I had the furball sittin in my lap afterwards you'd never know he was a stray... was purrin' up a storm!

If we end up keeping him (my landlord's BF might take him.. dunno yet) I'm gonna name him Barack..

One of the items my buddy the car service owner mentioned to me today was this interview that Biden had with a TV station down in Florida. He said that Biden refused to answer "fair & tough questions" and that just proves how when the media is "fair" Democrats are "pussies".

Here's the video.. judge for yourself if the questions are fair Edit: I just watched it for the first time myself, and damn I'm not one bit surprised that the Obama campaign has blacklisted this moron anchor and her entire station from any more interviews :
