What a difference 6 months makes. What a difference 4 weeks make. 4 weeks ago, exactly 4 weeks ago, I had the displeasure of writing about the events -- the insurrection -- on the Capitol building and the attempt to overthrow our government. It was an attempted coup.

Four weeks ago we came very close to the assassinations of the Vice President and the Speaker of the House and quite possibly many other elected officials. It fueled by conspiracy theorists & white supremacists from the likes of the Proud Boys, Oathkeepers, 3%'rs Qanon, and above all, the Former occupant of the White house.
Four weeks ago we were still learning that the violence on January 6 may have been coordinated from inside the House. The investigation will bear that out. Since that day, an awful lot of video has surfaced from freshman congressperson Greene. I refer to her as MTG. She's a menace.
Leader (?) Mcarthy has been under pressure to remove her from her house committees. Instead, he gave her a firm talking to.
What a difference from last August, when McCarthy denounced Qanon, to today.
This is now the RepubliQanon Party.

Greene has supported disproven far-right conspiracy theories such as Pizzagate, QAnon, false flag shootings, and 9/11 conspiracy theories. Additionally, she has supported the execution of prominent Democratic politicians. She has also supported the efforts of Republican President Donald Trump to overturn his defeat against Democrat Joe Biden in the 2020 presidential election. During the Electoral College vote count, Greene was among a group of Republican legislators who unsuccessfully objected to votes won by Biden. After falsely asserting Trump was elected in a landslide but the election had been stolen from him, Greene filed articles of impeachment against Biden the day after his inauguration, alleging abuse of power.

Morning, comrades.
Things are starting to move here in 2021. I have a new appointment with my opthalmologist to get my contacts renewed. Go figure - I stopped wearing them when I had that "other" job for a while. More desk time than "stick time". Here, I'm back behind the wheel for a straight 40 again and could use an update.
M'cycle study is progressing well - passed 3 test exams this morning. It's a different mindset - I badly failed my first attempt because I was thinking "like a CDL driver". Different rules.
And following up on Bob's late question yesterday, it's not an Indian that I have my eye on. The bike in question is a Honda - it's a cruiser called the "Aero". It's a mid-level bike, but I really like the look. Currently my dream bike, if I can swing the $$. (Working lots of overtime and crunching numbers.) There is an entry-level bike that I also like.
I have washed my hands of the GOP. There is no redeeming quality any of them can offer. I would gladly stand on the bridge of the Californian and watch them go down, if you get the reference.

Psst - I regret that the stories linked elsewhere are all behind a paywall. I also hope all the stuff I tend to post from the Boston Globe isn't similarly blocked. With an all-access subscription, it's easy to forget not everyone can see everything.
