Giles Corey
Author: TriSec    Date: 11/07/2026 13:28:15

Longtime readers are well-familiar with the Patron Saint of Four Freedoms Blog.

Giles Corey - an unfortunate victim of the Salem Witch Trials.

Simplistically, he was accused of witchcraft back in the Salem Village of 1692. He chose not to enter a plea in a choreographed "Fuck You" to the authority of the day, knowing what it would cost him.

He was pressed to death with large rocks as a response - his last words reportedly being "More Weight."

It was two years ago that Donald Trump chose to channel not an innocent man, but the authority figures that caused his demise.

More Weight.

Each and every day since November 5, 2024 - it's sure felt like another massive boulder thrown on the pile squashing Lady Liberty and every other decent American.

Last week, that burden was lifted a little bit. We should not bear any illusions, as the Fascist-In-Chief has already signalled his future course by posting a red "VETO" hat, and further bolstering his remaining staff with even more loyalists and sycophants.

But all of that is a future battle. January 3, 2027 is when the new Congress will be sworn in. Things will get interesting after that. I've posted elsewhere that there would be a delicious irony in beginning impeachment proceedings on January 6, but that's just me.

2028 is a long way away. We have two years to not necessarily do the work of the people, but to set ourselves up as a true opposition party. Especially if we are still shackled by Trump's tyranny.

Yes, the democrats should do the work. We should pass everything we can think of and send it all to the President's desk. FORCE him to veto it, and then afterwards, make certain that there are press conferences, rallies, and whatever it takes to tie the blocking and posturing to the President, his loyalists, and the entire GOP.

We should go so far as to appoint an entire "shadow cabinet", something the UK does regularly. Especially and at least for Pete Hegseth and Robert Kennedy. It would be a good thing to be able to say "here's what our party thinks should actually be happening, for the better of the country. Here's what their incompetent morons are doing."

It will come down to leadership.

There's 92 new members of the House of Representatives that are not (yet) beholden to any corporate entity, lobbyist, loyalist, or ancient white man desperately clinging onto power. That's just 21% of the House.....but they do have a mandate coming in.

Will it be enough?

The next two months will be a bumpy ride. After that, though, I'm looking forward to the consequences.
