Short Sweet and Simple

It is really time for people who truly WANT Health Care Reform to get out and start pushing back the lies and the propaganda that the GOP and the insurance industry is selling. They are selling fear, and it is working.

I don't know who was polled in this NYT/CBS poll, but I don't like reading things like this:
President Obama’s ability to shape the debate on health care appears to be eroding as opponents aggressively portray his overhaul plan as a government takeover that could limit Americans’ ability to choose their doctors and course of treatment, according to the latest New York Times/CBS News poll.

Americans are concerned that revamping the health care system would reduce the quality of their care, increase their out-of-pocket health costs and tax bills, and limit their options in choosing doctors, treatments and tests, the poll found. The percentage who describe health care costs as a serious threat to the American economy — a central argument made by Mr. Obama — has dropped over the past month.

Mr. Obama continues to benefit from strong support for the basic goal of revamping the health care system, and he is seen as far more likely than Congressional Republicans to have the best ideas to accomplish that. But reflecting a problem that has hindered efforts to bring major changes to health care for decades, Americans expressed considerable unease about what the end result would mean for them individually.

“We need to fix health care,” Mary Bevering, a Democrat from Fort Madison, Iowa, said in a follow-up interview, “but if the government creates the system, I’m afraid the quality of care will go down and costs will go up: We will pay more taxes.”

“It’s going to come down to regulation,” Ms. Bevering said. “What also worries me is whether we will be told what physician we can have.”
It's very simple. If people out there are believing the very myths that have been debunked, then our Dems in congress are losing the word battle. Bob and I have been working tirelessly on the debunking website, and I hope that people who know about it are using what we have already debunked. There will be more to come in the next days. It is important to send the information to congresscritters and the like, becuase it is becoming more and more apparent to me that they don't know that these myths and lies are out there scaring the crap out of Americans. They truly don't.

Shame on the NYT themselves (and other newspapers around America) for not reading the bill, or even trying to get to the source of this misinformation. I think the president is doing all he can to get the message opout to people, but when the Commander in Chief is the Debunker is chief, there is a problem. A real problem. This time the bloggers WILL be the ones ahead of the REAL story regarding out Health Care Reform. Just as they were regarding Sen. Baucus and his ties to the insurance industry.

We need Congress to start pushing the good news like this:
The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) has released its score of the House health care reform bill and opponents of health care reform are trying to use it to scuttle the bill’s success. The truth, however, is that without the Medicare physician payment fix, the House health reform bill is budget neutral and even produces a $6 billion surplus. We should applaud the House for tackling this long-term problem in Medicare’s fee structure, not punish it by falsely claiming its health care reform initiatives will add to the federal deficit.
Say it quick and simple folks, The House plan is Budget Neutral and will create a SURPLUS! People like it short and sweet.

And there in lies the problem. The Dems still haven't learned the art of simple messaging. When they come back home next week let's try to help them with that.

:peace: and

IT'S NOT ASSISTED SUICIDE!

The section of the bill this myth is referring to is SEC. 1233. ADVANCE CARE PLANNING CONSULTATION: It amends the Medicare Act to allow coverage for patients to receive counseling about end-of-life care options every five years if they so choose. Moreover, prominent medical societies have supported such counseling. Here is an analysis of this portion of the bill:

Provides coverage for consultation between enrollees and practitioners to discuss orders for life-sustaining treatment. Instructs CMS to modify 'Medicare & You' handbook to incorporate information on end-of-life planning resources and to incorporate measures on advance care planning into the physician's quality reporting initiative.

And this guy on the phone should be spending more time debunking that myth than yammering on.

Seriously.

Random won't be on much for the next few days. For two very good reasons.

One, he got this new board game called Arkham Horror (based off classic Horror works by H.P. Lovecraft) and he's gonna try figuring it out before he gets his friends involved in that evil.

And Two, he's going on vacation next week, so...that involves work he's told. So...yeah.

but mostly the first one.

Okay, I stand corrected, when Rose bet, he never bet against the Reds. He would always bet on them to win.
