The New American History

Oh those big-haired, big church, big bugs, football-lovin', boisterous Texans are at it again. Now they want to make a few changes to our American history. Lets take a look at some of the tweeks:

On Slavery:

".... Africans were brought over for a short period of America's early history in order to help us become the great nation that we are. African men, women and children joyfully toiled in the fields picking cotton, tobacco and other crops; helped in the homes with cleaning, cooking and other daily chores and Americans graced them with the knowledge to know the Gospels and Jesus to relieve them of the sin of the devil which they seemed to have in them. In return, the blacks taught us a few songs which they would sing while they tirelessly worked long hard days with a bouncy joy in their steps and a politeness with which we, sadly, no longer see. The songs they sang later became "Jazz" music".

On the founding fathers:

..."and they were, of course, Christian men who loved Jesus but felt sorry for some of those who practiced other religions and so, to appease them made it seem as if they wanted a line between Government and religion. But scholars later confirmed that was not the case. Religion is only mentioned in the Constitution that seems to point to a desire for some degree of religious freedom. That appearance is in Article 6, at the end of the third clause:

No religious Test shall ever be required as a Qualification to any Office or public Trust under the United States.

In this way, even Catholics can run for public office. "

Suffrage:

"Around the mid 1920's women started complaining and whining a lot. So, eventually they were given the right to vote in 1929".

The Civil Rights Act

"Around the early 1960's the blacks, whom this country had cared for so well, turned against whites in the streets and began marching and singing and boycotting. To appease them Congress passed the Civil Rights Act of 1968."

Martin Luther King:

"..was a man who had a dream that one day his kids could go to college and hold hands with white girls."

Cesar Chavez:

"... was a man who revolted against the status quo and led a violent revolution against his country. He started a union, which is a place for communists to gather and plot to revolt even more."

There's a lot more to the new texts. Stuff about Viet Nam, the World Wars, the industrial revolution, the Gold Rush and the taming of the Indians and later the Mexicans.

Next up, the school board is going to take on the challenge of restoring school prayer and prayer at the biggest social event that Texans have: football.
