Go outside!

Ah, spring at last!

'tis been an unusual winter around these parts. Lest we forget, it was calm and mild up through the holidays and into January. But then a series of storms nailed us just about every weekend through late January and February.

Of course, New Englanders love to complain. *Some* of us complained bitterly that it wasn't cold and there was no snow in the early going. (Primarily in weather-dependent businesses.) Then of course, we all whined when cities and towns were overwhelmed by the snow.

Then our alleged "spring" came and it got cold, gray, and rainy for the entire month of March and a good piece of April. But ever since the marathon, it's been a glorious stretch of dry and mostly mild weather.

The past two weekends have been the "kickoff" of the outdoor season at LL Bean...we had massive sales last weekend, and this weekend I'm leading a walk in about an hour, and tomorrow we'll be training all day to get the kayaks back in the water.

It's sure been a long year....365 days ago I was getting ready to head to West Palm Beach to drive my aunt home for the season, while the ticking time bomb in my colon was waiting to do its business.

But all that is past - it's looking like a beautiful morning for birding, and the temperatures continue to rise. More southerly folks are already gardening, and I sure hope to get my bike outdoors and scrum around in the dirt myself this weekend.

Get outside and play if you can, mmkay?
