So this is what it's like... Strange feeling.
Author: Raine    Date: 01/29/2009 13:28:28

Is it a new day? Yesterday we learned that after removing the 2 biggest objections to the stimulus package - grass and condoms - the entire Republican side of the aisle in the house voted against it. ALL of them. 244-188. 11 Dems voted against the package as well, and it STILL passed.

Was it everything the Dems wanted? NO... but it was a damn fine start to acting like the majority party. A majority party that can actually get things done without shoving people into basements or cutting off microphones in order to have hearings about the Patriot Act... How refreshing! This time Republicans did succeed at one very important thing: they have shown that the new true leader of the RNC is Rush Limbaugh. In doing so, they are truly showing that they have nothing but obstructive politics in mind.

I feel badly for the people these politicians represent, regardless of party lines. There are many truly good folk in America who are conservative and not neo-cons . They have been sold a bill of goods by these people with an ( R ) next to there name. Until yesterday, I would have told you there are some good people on that side of the aisle, I did not want to lump them all into one vague generalization, because - quite simply - it wasn't fair to do that. But the ENTIRE GOP delegation voted against stimulating the American economy? ALL of them? After John Boehner told them too, after he was given the dictate from a drug-addled radio host? AFTER everyone in America was informed of this information? They ALL voted no?

Now I will say it: they are the ones who are bordering on "hating America". They would have the very people who elected them to office homeless and out of work. They would have them unable to feed their children or give them medication. They are the ones who would have our bridges and roads continue to crumble underneath our feet, and they are the ones who would have our children continue to attend schools that are falling down around them.

All this done in the name of being obstructionist, they have shown themselves to truly be spiteful and bitter. They put Party before country, and blame before responsibility and accountability. Now all the Dems have to do is keep on keeping on. This vote yesterday showed us all that, they CAN try to be bipartisan, they can reach out, but in the end - they don't HAVE to. That should be sending an icy chill down the spine of every house member on the minority side of the aisle.

It feels good to know that we can finally get things done in Washington for the good of America, not just for party. I almost don't believe it, it's been so long. It's very "stimulating"... perhaps that's what that strange feeling is...

:peace: and:heart:
