Mornin'

Poor ignorant Sarah is lashing out at everyone now.

I'm sure she was just as disgusted when Dumbya was showing his video looking for WMDs.

Surely there's an NFL team willing to sign a proven winning QB.

The only thing you risk is getting your current QB, offensive co-ordinator and general manager mind-fucked and in the case of the latter two, fired. Though the QB may be out as well.

So Saturday I met the gentleman (Richard Cabellos) who will be running against Jackson Miller in the VA House of Delegates, got volunteered to help blog for him, and volunteered to be a delegate from the 50th District.

yeah, wasn't expecting any of that....oh dear....

not sure just yet, one thing I do know is they want blogs to go on the Manassas Dems website going after Jackson Miller. Most of the stuff I've written here is commentary on pop culture and politics so it's a little outside of my comfort zone. May need some VA wonk-ish type help.

I can get you a list of people to follow on the BoF.

Alicia knight -- I think you and she are friends is a really excellent resource. I suspect tho, that they will ask you to craft some blogs based on Talking points. You can totally do do this.

Heh.

Four Freedoms - your source for local election blogs! (See also City Councilor Tom Stanley, who I promised to write things for as well.)

And I may do the same for Peter Koutoujian. The Primary for Kerry's seat is tomorrow - Ed Markey is holding onto about a ten point lead over Steve Lynch this past weekend. (Peter will likely run for Ed's seat, should he get in.)

Anyway...

BTW, I've had my epiphany this morning. You all read my Saturday blog. Most of the things I said there remain unchanged. But I had planned a deadline for myself of May 1 to figure out what the hell I should do next. I was reading some things about the oath and law today, and finally some things just clicked.

I will always seek to preserve a cheerful spirit, even in the midst of irksome tasks and weighty responsibilities, and will endeavor, so far as in my power lies, to be unselfish in service and devotion to the welfare of others.

And

. . . To help other people at all times; . . .
There are many people who need you. Your cheerful smile and helping hand will ease the burden of many who need assistance. By helping out whenever possible, you are doing your part to make this a better world.

I've told you all before. When I got diagnosed last year, I was ordered to take care of myself first. But I found even this to be difficult; my entire life has been dedicated to the point of the Oath that "Duty to Others" is the most important.

It's not all we wanted. In many ways, I remain ambivalent; I think huge damage will still be done no matter what the decision. But to walk away after spending a lifetime trying to teach duty to your fellow man to literally hundreds of Scouts....I can't turn my back on it in clear conscience, either.

If there was ever a time to maintain a cheerfur spirit, and to do my Duty to Others, it is now.

Sorry for the lame blog stub. Today has been busy right out of the gate, and if I don't get a blog up today, my apologies. I will certainly try, but not promising anything.

Mala - that's great. I doubt Raine and TriSec will disagree, but I see nothing wrong with using our little platform here to promote local candidates. It could be synergistic for us as well.

TriSec - somehow, I knew that would be the answer you'd find. Kudos to you. Like all teachers, your effect on the world is profound yet anonymous, with the ripples seen by all long after the rock has disappeared into the depths.

I love this:

The best conservative idea is personal responsibility.
The best liberal idea is social responsibility.

It makes no sense that these two ideas are at war with each other.

Hi, Mala!

I am willing to help. (No subbing today, but I think that I should have enough for a VA license next pay check. I HAVE to get out of this house. My brother is already being belligerent about my finding something and is getting very sarcastic about my efforts. If worse comes to worse, and I am kicked out, I can move in with a friend. ) I do have a friend in Alabama who has worked with a number of candidates and you may want to befriend him on Facebook. (Send me a PM there.)

TriSec, it is hard changing an institution from within. However, I believe that Dr. King was correct when he said that the arc of history bends towards justice. I think that the BSA will eventually reach the position where the UK Scouts are now -- guaranteeing equal treatment for all.

Dave Wiegel picked this up from the article:

I realized I needed to go public when Joe Kennedy, my old roommate at Stanford and now a Massachusetts congressman, told me he had just marched in Boston's 2012 Gay Pride Parade. I'm seldom jealous of others, but hearing what Joe had done filled me with envy. I was proud of him for participating but angry that as a closeted gay man I couldn't even cheer my straight friend on as a spectator. If I'd been questioned, I would have concocted half truths. What a shame to have to lie at a celebration of pride.
