Author: Raine    Date: 07/05/2013 13:10:36

It's probably a slow day for a lot of people -- are you at work today? How was your holiday? I'm sifting through the news and seeing a lot of the same stuff...

For now here is a video of sleepy animals...

I'm gonna try to get a blog in, but the carpet guys are supposed to be showing up today to finish the post flood basement.

Big 100 is doing a countdown of "party" songs, just played Fame (Bowie) and Cheap Sunglasses. Never did get into the Dead, well except for Shade of Grey(?) song - my listening/musical tastes are so very vanilla

Ok, the other ay I wrote about the plane drama. I missed this article:
The experience leaves me feeling that if the NSA leaker is indeed in the transit zone of the airport, as President Vladimir Putin claims, he may already have a taste of what it's like to be in prison.

Snowden is possibly holed up in the wing of an airport hotel reserved for travelers in transit who don't have visas to enter Russia. The Novotel's main building, located outside the airport, has a plush lobby with a fountain, a trendy bar and luxury shops. One wing, however, lies within the airport's transit zone — a kind of international limbo that is not officially Russian territory.
If this is where he really is, there is no way he's getting out of Russia without someone knowing.

Who is paying for this? These are serious questions.

You know I was just thinking about how he was paying for stuff the other day. I doubt very much they are feeding him out of the kindness of their hearts, and where is he sleeping and bathing? You right - who is paying for all this?

To answer your question, I am at work which is very quiet.

“If it was your son, in fact, screaming as you testified, that would suggest that it was Mr. Zimmerman’s fault that led to his death,” O’Mara observed. “And if it was not your son screaming, if it was, in fact, George Zimmerman then you would have to accept the probability that it was Trayvon Martin that caused his own death, correct?”
Pigs.

I'm on a micro-vacation. Since we get Thursday and Friday off, I took the 3rd (to be able to get a good place to see the fireworks at Patriot Place) and the Monday coming. Now I'm downloading a bunch of stuff from the TiVo to clear some room, last night's 4th concert and a Lone Ranger mini-marathon.

I let Mrs. Rabbit talk me into going way earlier than I wanted, meaning walking an outdoor mall in 95 degree heat and it's a LONG way from one end to the other (why are shuttle buses only available on the weekends, why not on holidays too). By the time the fireworks started it cooled down quite nicely.

No cats around. There was a major skirmish yesterday between Lucky and Sophie. Sophie was screaming as Lucky went after her. Which is rather odd as I thought of both Sophie and Lucky as wusses and Cleo was the dominant one.

You know it is really easy to hate on O'Mara. Remember his job is provide a vigorous defense for his client in our adversarial legal system. If he didn't he would be guilty of malpractice.

Very true, but there are times I have to wonder how defense attorneys live with some real ugliness on their hearts.

Now I know why Mrs. Rabbit stormed off in a huff saying "I'm not watching THAT asshole".

The Price is Right is getting pre-empted because local stations apparently feel that people care about the new Celtics coach enough to televise the news conference.

That's what the INTERNET is for, idiots! That's what SMARTPHONES are for! You push everything else to us, why not stream THAT?

No, the NBA lost any respect I had for it years ago.

I'm well aware of that. That said, I never felt half as disgusted watching oj's trial -- just as an example.

Lawyers have lawyering jobs, got it -- but if he expected to gain ANY sympathy from the jury -- he failed on an EPIC level. that was disgusting and vile. He makes ambulance chasers look good.

I think that hand customizing fireworks would be any standard firework used in half-assed and or dangerous manner. They will certainly provide many modalities of customization from digit removal all the way to entire hand removal. As far as losing them in the bathroom they could go off and swoosh! down the drain! Or in behind the toilet. Just sayin..

Good morning, bloggers!! Still morning here in NW Indiana, in the shadow of Chicago.

In the good news, I have a little babysitting to do later. Also, I am working on applications today and should get in a nice walk if I am not stuck doing housework.

I was home yesterday, had a nice walk, and chatted with friends. As one, who has been active in the protests in Austin, was at the Head On Radio Network show with Bob Kincaid on Wednesday, I am listening to that here.

So here is the thing... and once again, I will say this, Snowden is part of the story, but the rest of this has FAR less to do with leaked documents and more to do with the idea that people didn't pay attention --

How Booz Allen Made the Revolving Door Redundant it wasn't just BAH, it was the Bush administration , the GOP and the entire fucking idea of privatizing our security.

I am hard pressed to think of any area where privatizing a government function has helped the public.

I know that Bobber interviewed for job at CACI. I will say this, not all government contracting jobs are evil. I believe there is a place for these jobs.

National Security -- the likes of which I see in the article I presented earlier is not one of them. All governments spy -- that has been given since -- forever, I believe.

But to outsource our national information gathering is what I deeply disagree with.

John Mayer: Still terrible

My FAVORITE part:
What kind of guy dresses like he’s urironically trying to be Rob Lowe in “St. Elmo’s Fire”? Mayer carries about him the air of a guy who brings his guitar to parties, a man who just might describe you as his “lover” and ask if he can come over to “make love” to you, the earnest yet entitled man-child who regards not wearing shoes as a form of political protest.

I know many people who make a very good living sucking on the government's teet as contractors. They work for various agencies from DoD to HUD.

There are many functions that can be given up to contracts, but actual intelligence gathering and analysis most certainly isn't one of them.
