With more than $18 billion at stake in Detroit's restructuring, big law firms and other advisers are clamoring to represent the city's many creditors - including some advisers not exactly known for municipal work.
The city, which filed the largest-ever U.S. municipal bankruptcy on Thursday, tapped high-priced lawyers from Jones Day, financial advisers from Ernst & Young and restructuring consultants from Conway MacKenzie, court papers show.
For creditors and related parties, there is clearly a lot at stake. That means bondholders, insurers, retirees and others are sure to be accompanied in court by platoons of lawyers.
“Mr. Cuccinelli’s very hard stance on some of the social issues is a concern for me,†said Virginia Beach developer Bruce L. Thompson, chief executive officer of Gold Key/PHR Hotels and Resorts, a financial backer of current Republican Governor Bob McDonnell who in May gave McAuliffe $25,000.
“I believe personally in a woman’s right to choose, but I also think from an economic development standpoint, we’re trying to attract businesses from other areas of the country, and we’re telling women that we’re going to regulate the way that they run their life? I just don’t think we can be exclusionary when it comes to women†and gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered individuals, Thompson said.
Of McDonnell’s top 25 individual donors, only 10 so far have contributed to Cuccinelli -- leaving three-fifths either on the sidelines or actively working against Cuccinelli, financial disclosures posted by the Virginia Public Access Project show.

Howdy folks. Back from an outstanding week at camp.
In case you missed it on the Book of Face, here's the photos.
I recommend not using the full-screen slideshow. Some are captioned, but some other photos have comments on them instead.
I'll still work up a full report at some time; a few significant things occured that I am rather pleased about.

Just as wacky, and thankfully MUCH cooler. Except at Times Square/Grand Central, where it was still a giant oven. There was something really strange going on in Yonkers yesterday too.. they had all almost all the main roads blocked off, a fleet of moving vans being escorted, and the cops guarding every municipal building AND the hospital. It was a little creepy..
When I got up to New Haven I had 3 hours of layover time, and my other half said she still wasn't feeling good so I had a looong time to wait... until she surprised me by showing up! We got some dinner & walked around for a bit before I had to get back to catch my ride home.

It was probably this in Yonkers.

I still have to wonder about those expectations that the Nationals were going to be a much better team are working out as they have slipped below .500

Rule #1 - don't put yourself at risk. Unless the victim is in IMMEDIATE danger, you wait until the Police and Fire guys tell you it's safe to go to work.
(And I mean IMMEDIATE - like a car is stuck on the tracks with a train bearing down on it, or the victim is surrounded by active flames or something like that.)
George Zimmerman, the man recently acquitted in the shooting death of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin, helped rescue a family from an overturned SUV last week, the Seminole County Sheriff's Office confirmed today.
According to sheriff's spokeswoman Heather Smith, deputies were called to the crash about 5:45 p.m. Wednesday.
A Ford Explorer sport utility vehicle had gone off the road and rolled over in the area of Interstate 4 and State Road 46, Smith said, with two children and their parents inside.
By the time a deputy arrived, Zimmerman and another man "had already helped assist the family by getting them out of the overturned vehicle," Smith said.
"Zimmerman was not a witness to the crash and left after making contact with the deputy," Smith said in an emailed statement. "There were no report of injuries to the vehicle occupants."

This actually -- at this point -- makes me really suspicious of this story. Sanford Police say he did this? This is the same PD that didn't bother arresting this man for 44 days. No, the Seminole County Sheriff's Department said this, not the Sanford PD.
Sanford Police Department Capt. Jim McAuliffe told Fox News that Zimmerman, 29, was identified by a crash victim as the man who pulled him from the mangled vehicle.
“George Zimmerman pulled me out,†firefighters were told by the unidentified driver, according to McAuliffe.
