Computer issues this morning -- let's just get this sucker rolling.

Have you heard the good news?
The additional 57-vote margin from Fairfax was expected to give Herring a statewide lead of 163 votes out of more than 2.2 million cast – barring any last-minute changes from other localities, which had until 11:59 pm Tuesday to submit their numbers to the state election board.

A recount appears all but certain after the statewide results are certified Nov. 25, and the Obenshain campaign made clear that it considers the race far from over. “We owe it to the people of Virginia to make sure we get it right, and that every legitimate vote is counted and subject to uniform rules,” Obenshain (Harrisonburg) said in a statement.

Herring, by contrast, treated his victory as assured in a campaign statement.
Good good news, indeed.

Also Richard Cohen doesn't understand why everyone is all upset.
Richard Cohen has the Richard Cohen–iest non-apology ever in response to his grotesque piece yesterday about “conventional” Americans “gagging” at interracial marriage. “I don’t understand it,” the Washington Post columnist told The Washington Post in what has to be the interview coup on the year. “What I was doing was expressing not my own views but those of extreme right-wing Republican tea party people. I don’t have a problem with interracial marriage or same-sex marriage. In fact, I exult in them . . . This is just below the belt. It’s a purposeful misreading of what I wrote.” Ew! Richard Cohen “exults” in your marriages, interracial couples and gay couples. Note that Richard Cohen has a history of “exulting” where he shouldn’t.

Dickie, Dickie, Dickie! If you meant it to be the views of the tea party, you should have made that much clearer, you massive tool.

I've read it and can see how Cohen could have meant it that way, but the fact that it was so poorly written that it was so easy to misinterpret makes it pretty clear that he is a shitty writer in general.

...and he should not have brought the Mayor of NYC into the discussion.

I'm really bothered that WaPo continues to stand by this awful excuse for a man.

ObamaCare Health Care Reform Timeline 2015
• Employers with over 50 full-time equivalent employees must offer health insurance.

• Doctors' income is based on quality of care not quantity of care. This is a vast simplification of the actual documentation in the bill. It is a protection from the current fee-for-service payment model.

ObamaCare Health Care Reform Timeline 2017
• States can implement their own plans which meet the standards of ObamaCare such as single-payer. (similar to ObamaCare, but instead of buying private insurance everyone pays a tax and everyone has coverage)

• Provides states flexibility to allow businesses with more than 100 employees to purchase coverage in the SHOP Exchange

• No more preexisting conditions for anyone including high-risk customers.

ObamaCare Health Care Reform 2018
• All healthcare plans (including plans held since before preventive care was required) must now offer preventive coverage.

• The "Cadillac" tax for higher quality coverage for individuals and employers purchasing insurance for employees is put in place.

ObamaCare Health Care Reform 2020
• ObamaCare fully eliminates the Medicare Gap (instead of just offering rebates to seniors).

For more information on health care reform check out our extensive coverage of Obama Care Facts.
Another excellent source.

Sorry for the long posts. As you can see, I am really sick of this. The Repubs have fought the ACA EVERY DAMN STEP OF THE WAY.

They are bitching about a website and the fact that INSURANCE companies are doing what they have always done : RIP PEOPLE OFF.

I swear, they just want the black man to fix everything and be responsible for everything at the same damn time.

I’d like to point out that Ferguson refers to himself not as an economist but as an economic historian. So what we have here isn’t one economist criticizing one of his peers for his work in their shared field but, instead, we are seeing a historian throwing an eloquent tantrum about one economist’s claims of what will happen in the future.
A conservative economic historian... how utterly typical.

yeah, IKR This really would have been so much easier if it were Medicare for all or single payer but NNNNOOOO Repubs wouldn't even entertain the thought so we went with this idea to try and get everyone one the same base line at the very least.

It's a curious thing. As a child, we were never overly concerned about familial history...I was raised as a Sicilian/Italian, and always thought of myself as "white" until such time I became an adult.

Over the years, as I've tried to sort out the tangled mess that is my family history (like most Americans, I'd wager) I became far more aware of our Hispanic and Filipino background. I no longer list "White" on all those demographic thingies....I've been "Pacific Islander" for better than 20 years now.

When I was a younger man, I was with a fine lady "with the brown skin" (as young Javi calls one of his friends) for quite some time. Of course, I wound up with a hispanic lady (although Cubans are different) for life.

It all comes back to something one of our members at that long-ago website we all used to frequent said..."I fell in love with a person, not their anatomy". [or the color of their skin].

Really, GOP....why is this so hard?

FAcinating and really informative.

One takeaway: Experion's private database. <--- This should not have happened.

Me, the one who always looks to see if the GOP added to the clusterphluck. Did they make sure it was private credit agencies that did the verification when the actually bill was passed into law?

The "you promised" reasoning is so fucking lame. Did at any point did Obama say I promise? Not that I recall. Since when did a politician promise mean anything anyway? Seriously people stop making policy on the yoooou promised meme.

Considering how much money Rush is losing, I don't think he has much sway with Clear Channel, who are going to driven by financial considerations over everything else.
