I have to share this from Gothamist:
The pittance of snow that deigned to fall on NYC this weekend was but an appetizer compared to the feast that lies ahead. According to breathless meteorologists and terrified weather services, NYC and the tri-state area is expected to be hit with a blizzard early this week that could bring anywhere from 1-2 feet of snow to the city. You know what this means.

It's kinds funny, and I know that some people are more used to these storms than others, but Gothamist points out this historical context:

CENTRAL PARK - 1869 to Present
(through March 2011)
Biggest Snow Storm

Stay safe, stay warm and keep an eye out!

Judging by the bang-up job the plow people did a my apartment complex (didn't bother to plow out parking spaces which are now chunks of ice) after the 4" piddle we just got, this 2 to 3' we are supposed to get means I will probably be stuck at home until March.

As long as the power stays on.....

I'm sorry everyone. This is probably my last post. The 'Blizzard of Death' is upon us, and I only have a half loaf of bread and just 5 eggs. It's all my fault; I'm such a bad husband and father, now my entire family must pay for my mistakes. Please pray for us...and in the spring when the weather is warm, please plant some flowers and remember us.

Take care.

Mornin' all..

I don't know about anyone else, but here's my list of storm essentials:

- Two jugs of lemon water pre-made
- Two boxes of Clif bars
- Two bottles of cabernet sauvignon and a fresh six pack of whatever seasonal Sam Adams is available (probably Alpine White right now)
- a couple packs of cigarillos
- a nice quarter ounce of weed

Nice!

This one really is looking very bad.

My sister went out to get a kerosene heater and my mom is heading over to their place for the duration of the storm.

All stations, report.

Looks like the leading edge is just south of Worcester.

Radar shows snow between I-495 and 128 (yes I still call I-95 128).

As soon as it starts, I'm outta here.

The storm from the west went north of us, and the storm from the south went east of us. We are getting sprinkles of snow and rain, but not enough to be concerned with

So, this 'drone' that landed at the White House was just described as a quad-copter. In other words, the same toy you can buy at that kiosk in the mall.

If our locals stand in front of the camera and say 'Durrrrrrrr......', they've got about a 50% chance of being correct most days.

I am off today so I will be just staying in the house with myself curled in the fetal position. I wish Global Warming would have given us mild winters. I'm supposed to work tomorrow night doing Rangers-Islanders at Nassau Coliseum. Trying to figure if the game is going to get postponed since no one will be able to get there in this mess. And if it's as bad as it is, I probably won't leave the house tomorrow either.

Looking at the map that Raine posted, it looks like you will be at ground zero.

Stay safe, my friend. And warm. Keep us updated.

Yes.

The only thing that has me wondering, is why it was out there at 3 am in the morning.

I have seen smaller versions of these on the Mall before. This one was like 2 feet around.

I can't see how they can hold the game… The Mausoleum is pretty much dead center for the storm.

High tide is supposed to be hitting the East End during the height of the storm overnight especially out on the East End when the winds are also supposed to hit a maximum of 75 MPH.

I'm watching the coverage on FiOS1 which is kind of the cheap news channel but they are trying to cover it. The only thing I miss since I no longer have Cablevision is News 12 since it was during events like this I would have it on.

I find it amusing that during the last big storm, then Governor Patrick instituted a travel ban and people bitched. Now with a Republican Governor our local RW CBS station couldn't find anyone who disagreed with the travel ban.

What a surprise
