Good Morning.

I've got to shovel three inches of global warming off my sidewalk before I can get to the store today. (chortle, guffaw).

You know I work in the outdoor industry, and fortunately we're a little immune to the catfight that's going on between Mr. Trump and the apparel industry right now.

It's pretty funny - one of the first to pull the Trump line from a prominent display location was the locally-based TJX company.

FRAMINGHAM, Mass. —
Framingham based TJX Companies is responding to a report in the New York Times that claims a note was sent to store employees telling them to throw away signs for Ivanka Trump products.

"Effective immediately, please remove all Ivanka Trump merchandise from features and mix into” the racks where most products hang, the note, obtained by the New York Times said. "All Ivanka Trump signs should be discarded."

TJX spokeswoman Doreen Thompson confirmed the memo and said it was "intended to instruct stores to mix this line of merchandise into our racks, not to remove it from the sales floor." She said, "at this time, we continue to offer the line of merchandise."

TJX Companies operates T.J. Maxx, Marshalls and Homegoods.

President Donald Trump lashed out Wednesday at Nordstrom, the latest company to draw his Twitter attention, saying the department store chain that decided to stop selling his daughter's clothing and accessory line has treated her "so unfairly."

In the tweet, Trump said, "My daughter Ivanka has been treated so unfairly by @Nordstrom. She is a great person - always pushing me to do the right thing! Terrible!" Posted first on his personal account, it was re-tweeted more than 6,000 times in less than an hour. It was also retweeted by the official @POTUS account.

The action drew a rebuke from ethics experts saying the fact that this one was about a business run by his daughter raised conflict-of-interest concerns.

Nordstrom reiterated Wednesday that its decision was based on the brand's performance. The company said sales of Ivanka Trump items had steadily declined over the past year, particularly in the last half of 2016, "to the point where it didn't make good business sense for us to continue with the line for now."

The quip by Nordstrom is actually telling - you know that TJX is a discount re-seller? Things that end up at your neighborhood TJ Maxx have already been written off by the upscale stores as a sales loss. They turn around and sell that stuff to discounters for pennies on the dollar. So for TJX in turn to pull the product from a prominent location and put it back on the racks is more indicative of a sales problem than anything political. If TJX can't sell it either...the next stop is the charity bin.

There have been ebbs and flows of boycotts already - some of them comical, and the latest round between the Trumps and the Nordstroms very quickly veered into farce. Like most boycotts, this will likely fade very quickly out of the public eye, but then again with Trump's loose twitter cannon, who can tell?

Never mind the bigger picture - I can click on any reputable news source and find a hundred crises around the world that could use presidential attention, and this is the battle he's fighting this week.

I stand by my statement of election day - "I hope you all get everything you want out of a Trump presidency, and more. And if he destroys the union in the process, GOOD."

We're well down that path in just three weeks.

I am not sure where we are going. I plan to hold firm to my principles and take a stand. At least I know that I am not alone.

I've seen the photo of an Ivanka blouse that Marshalls was selling - original price $64, Marshalls' price: $34...

On clearance for $1.00

That's less than at Goodwill
