September One.
Author: Raine    Date: 08/07/2017 13:16:54

If you haven't read it yet, our own Velveeta has an exclusive, breaking news post from yesterday. Now, onto to today's news.

SoS rExxon© Tillerson talked to his counterpart in Russia about the 2016 elections and the 'meddling'
"We talked about it in the discussion we had with Minister Lavrov yesterday -- and trying to help them understand just how serious this incident had been and how seriously it had damaged the relationship between the US and the American people and the Russian people," Tillerson said.

(snip)

Tillerson said he would respond to the matter by September 1, adding that the US and Russia should find ways to work together.

"We have our differences, we're going to have to continue to find a way to address those," he said.

I find it peculiar that Nothing has come from 45 regarding this situation. It was the Secretary of State that talked about the elephant in the room. The strange part is that as soon as Russia announced the expulsion, the State department should have begun contingency plans. The problem is this the department is a mess under Tillerson.
Mr. Tillerson’s diplomatic accomplishments have been mixed at best. His biggest achievement came Saturday when the United Nations Security Council voted unanimously to impose sanctions on North Korea for its recent tests of intercontinental ballistic missiles, which required bringing along the Russians and the Chinese. But his effort to resolve the struggle between Saudi Arabia, along with other Sunni powers, and Qatar has made little progress; his department is considered dysfunctional by the Europeans; and policy is entrusted to a tiny group.

Moreover, his reorganization effort has contributed to the paralysis. He has not wanted to appoint under secretaries and assistant secretaries until he understands the new structure. But the career officials sitting in those posts have little authority, and they fear making a career-ending move. His hiring freeze has meant few young people — those with a better sense of how to reach the younger populations around the world — are entering the department. Senior diplomats have left in droves, depleting the building of historical memory.

So we have 3 weeks to see what the USA will do.

That's a lifetime under this administration, and Russia loves it like that.

Expect a big story to break before Wednesday -- 45 is tweeting like a lunatic this morning.

Happy Monday! Let's get this going!

and
Raine

Mornin' all!

Today I'm following this thread on Twitter that's chronicling the life's journey of a MAGA bot, from Photoshop filters & do-it-yourself teeshirt creators to retweet by our poddelka desyatnik.

Home doing GISHWHES this week - yay fun - so I"ll be peaking in when I can

Oh and Raine, the reason I needed to know if OTA was an urban area is that I'm trying to figure out if I would have to go into DC to set up a Huldufolk nightclub. Can't get to specific in public posts

New computers are a pain. Over an hour 'updating', and new the security software is running an initial scan.

But then this is the first totally new machine I've bought in probably 15 years or more. We've had a series of refurbs and hand-me-downs.

The Maddowan will fly again!

I guess you had to embrace Windows 10.
