Disrespectful

I think we are veering into a bad space with this entire "who called the soldiers families and who didn't" debate. I am concerned that we are trying to out-patriot ourselves here.

That said, there is a serious problem that needs to be discussed. The problem is that we've been put in a position where we have to discuss the politics of dead soldiers. That's because the resident of the White House made it political.
"If you look at President Obama and other presidents, most of them didn’t make calls. A lot of them didn’t make calls. I like to call when it’s appropriate, when I think I am able to do it.”
—President Trump, news conference with Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), Oct. 16, 2017
This was the first time the Tweeter-in-Chief was forced to comment on the deaths of four green berets in Niger.

A proper comment could have been made if we had a proper president. And, as things go, he made it worse the next day.
“I think I’ve called every family of someone who’s died,” the president told the host, Brian Kilmeade. “As far as other representatives, I don’t know. You could ask General Kelly, did he get a call from Obama?”

The remark, which was almost immediately derided by Democrats and Obama allies as politicizing a tragedy, was unplanned, said two White House officials, who said they were caught off-guard by Trump’s comments. One said Kelly may have mentioned some details surrounding his son’s death to the president in private — and the president then repeated them in public, a relatively frequent occurrence with Trump.

(Snip)

A White House official, speaking on the condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to discuss the matter publicly, said Kelly did not receive a call from Obama at the time.

But in May 2011, Obama hosted a breakfast for Gold Star families — those who had lost a family member who was in uniform — and Kelly and his wife attended, according to White House records.

I'd like to put a fine point here. General Kelly lost his son Robert in Afghanistan. Heather Kelly lost her Husband in Afghanistan. If any call was made (and it's not my business to know) it would have been made to the soldier's widow. That protocol.

With all the crap coming out this morning regarding what tRump did or didn't say to Sgt. La David T. Johnson’s widow Myeshia Johnson, I want people to remember that it was Trump who is politicizing this tragedy due to his lack of empathy.

He's got a history of already attacking a Gold Star family.

What the reporters asked him two days ago was not so much about calling the families of the soldiers - it was why he hasn't said a damn thing about what happened. He tweets shit about everything else and he had said nothing about these soldiers. THAT is the problem here and instead of quietly taking care to show caring for these people who gave their loved ones for the ultimate sacrifice, he's made them political footballs.

This is disgusting, disrespectful, and disturbing. We have to deal with this every single damn day.

That said, I would rather deal with this than to have lost a loved one in a war that should have been long over. The families of these men didn't want to become gold star families.

Mornin' all!

You know who knew what he was signing up for, and still continued to be a white-collar criminal as well as a miserable, disgusting human being?

<--- THIS FUCKING GUY.

That is because he's either a sociopath or a replicant. Neither of them isn't capable of empathy.

I've gotten to the point where I honestly think Cheetolini doesn't even realize he is lying. He is in his own universe of one. Olberman pretty much nailed in his latest dispatch.

An article from the Orlando Sun-Sentinel about the total lack of oversight for private schools getting public vouchers.

This is not new to me, one of my closest friends lived this when she was trying to get an education for her special needs son. It is disgraceful.

So here's an example of what's going around in the know-nothing circles on Twitter. I tracked this video back to its source at CBS News. Unfortunately I don't have a translation, but it's the PR Secy of State picking through damaged relief goods delivered by FEMA in a roll-off dumpster and left out in the open. The RW spin is that PR officials, not FEMA workers, threw out the goods after taking the good stuff for themselves and are now trying to pin the blame on .

Speaking of Puerto Rico, this is (I believe) all of the worst fears.

So they dug into the numbers, cross-checking with news reports, and found that the number of casualties resulting from the hurricane was probably much closer to 450.

Does anyone know if the District Court hearing for the emoluments lawsuit are being live broadcast? It's not on C-Span (tho they do have Sessions getting grilled by the Senate right now).

I wonder why no one in the press asked tRump why we had soldiers in Niger in the first place?

"U.S. Africa Command, which is based in Stuttgart, Germany, has provided no details about the mission, except to say it was for counterterrorism purposes..."

That's their "we can do whatever we want" card.

I'm sure it would involve some sort of word salad about terror, ISIS and other boogymen.

Here's a thing from The Atlantic that I found about it.

It is beyond time that we stop thinking of Cheetolini as just an asshole. There is something psychologically wrong with him. Something that is pathological. He doesn't know what is actually true. He is delusional.

I say this with no hyperbole or snark.

I have long believed that he is a sociopathological narcissist. I believed that as I watched his campaign.

I now believe he is still the above --but as a 70+-year-old (man (whose father died from Alzheimers disease) he has a brain related illness going on.

The two things combined are a very bad mix.

• A driven quest for power. If a narcissistic sociopath cares about anything other than himself, it is destructive power and control over people.

• Behaviors that seek love and admiration. To be sure, this isn't needy love. It's not even emotional love. It's superficial. A narcissistic sociopath sees love and admiration as power tools to manipulate and dominate (Do Sociopaths Even Have Feelings?).

• No apologies, no guilt, no remorse under any circumstance. A sociopathic narcissist believes that she is a gift to the world who makes it richer and more colorful. Therefore, her calculated, even cruel actions are always justified.

• Invincibility. The narcissistic variety of sociopath believes he is indomitable. Even punishment and prison can't stop him. They're merely part of the game.

• Wholly self-serving. The needs and wants of others are insignificant and undeserving of consideration.

• Act as the producer, director, and only actor of his own show. The narcissistic sociopath casts people in roles that increase his power and sense of importance and when bored, casts them aside.
