The final stretch.
Author: Raine    Date: 10/06/2008 12:28:25

So it's our first Monday day of October. The McCain campaign has decided it's going to go after Barack Obama with the Ayers Story. Yes -- THAT Ayers Story, the one we dealt with during primary season. John MCCain and Sarah Palin are going to do everything they can to distract America from the economy. EVERYTHING. It's 'Kitchen Sink' time in Politics.

Problem is, The World Market may have something else to say about that.
Asian and European stock markets plunged Monday as government bank bailouts in the U.S. and Europe failed to alleviate fears that the global financial crisis would depress world economic growth.

Investors took scant comfort from Washington's passage of a US$700 billion plan to buy bad assets from banks and other institutions to shore up the financial industry on Friday because of the uncertainty still hanging over the details of the deal and the degree to which it will help.
This comes on top of a report that Wall Street may reject the bailout rescue. So, I - with my limited knowledge of the markets and the economy - have a feeling that we might see the market drop a tad today. The markets may very well drop below 10,000. I also think that John McCain will try everything he can to distract America from that. They are going to try to get America stirred up about Tony Rezko and William Ayers. (no 'official' word yet on the second coming of the Reverend Wright) My goodness it's a political trilogy rerising! It's Like Deja Vu all over again!

There is good news. Barack Obama, in our final month of the campaign is going to show America how John McCain was directly one of the people who brought us to this place in our economy. It's the fourth quarter defense folks. As tired as we all are of this multi-year campaign, it ain't over folks. Obama has put John McCain on offense.

John McCain's desire to create fake outrage and distract America from the real issues that they are concerned about won't work - not this time. Today at Noon, EST, the Obama Campaign is presenting a 13 minute documentary about John McCain and his Keating Five Scandal. Here is a preview:

One month to go folks, it won't be pretty, but Obama is showing that he IS fighting back. I suspect we will have some crazy plan to get the debate cancelled, John McCAin will lose his temper again, Sarah will read a fortune cookie and claim it's Foreign Policy, but Barack Obama will be cool, calm and pragmatic this week.

Now that is refreshing. 1 month. We can do this. Yes, We can.

:peace: and
Raine

From DCRTV -

McCain's Bro Calls NOVA "Communist Country" - 10/5 - From AP: Republican presidential candidate John McCain's brother made an apparent joke at a campaign rally this weekend that might not play well in parts of newly competitive Virginia. Joe McCain, speaking at an event in support of his brother, called two Democratic-leaning areas in Northern Virginia "communist country," according to a report on the Washington Post's website. "I've lived here for at least 10 years and before that about every third duty I was in either Arlington or Alexandria, up in communist country," Joe McCain said at an event in Loudoun County. Joe McCain then apologized, but the remark drew laughter at the event.....

You know, for a campaign that is calling Joe Biden to task for "living in the past", I think they're going to be really sorry they ever brought it up...

But I wanted to mention that I'm trying to jump start a discussion on the issue of "Choice" in homosexuality. I would like some input if you get the time.

Mornin' everybody!

IT's fall break time at my school district, so I'm here at Casa Clintster listening to Steph for the first time in two months (not counting my Steph Bits subscription). I'm also planning on having a nice tub soak during RWW.

Will there be a talent portion on today's show?

Morning everybody! Sleepy today..... too much sitting in the sun yesterday in a football field! ;)

Did anybody catch 60 Minutes TV yesterday? Started late do to some train-wreck sport called (oddly enough) "foot"ball. Anywho, great piece on the financial crisis and the shadowy underworld created by all the deregulation. Catch the show if you can.

As for McCain and his negatives, lets not forget some of the other criminals he has been around, Ollie North who sold weapons to terrorists; G. Gordon Liddy, a felon; and the con man that stole money from people and claimed to have links with the Vatican - Ann Hathaways boyfriend/con man.

Um...... what exactly is "spoofable" about Tina Fey. She's a funny writer, other than that, kind of a (dare I say it) REGULAR person, kinda plain!

But, hey, whatever.

Reminds me of the movie Airplane 2, when "a tad off course" is defined in astro-nautical terms as half a million miles.

The link is having issues coming up, so let me put it here:

t's looking more and more likely that Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin will appear on ''Saturday Night Live'' -- to have some fun with Tina Fey.

As the comedian's impressions of the GOP vice presidential candidate draw laughs from Republicans and Democrats alike, a top honcho from the John McCain campaign tells me there's a debate going on about how to respond.

Some key McCain staffers are content with Palin joking about the "SNL" routines on the campaign trail -- as when she scribbled "I'm not Tina Fey" on a supporter's cell phone and said she'd dressed as Fey on Halloween. But others -- including the governor herself -- think a return punch on the NBC airwaves is what's needed.

I'm hearing some sort of Palin tweak of Fey's American Express commercials is in the works.

While next weekend's ''Saturday Night Live'' will be a rerun, it is possible Palin could appear Thursday on the first of NBC's ''Weekend Update'' specials in prime time.

Otherwise, the next orginal "SNL'' show will be broadcast Oct. 18, a little more than two weeks before the election.

Exactly! Milfy would have an easier time doing a parody of Barack Obama than she would Tina. It'll never happen, of course.

Good Morning Ms. Jones. I actually did see that Segment on 60 minutes. it was really good and rather infuriating. I loved when Kroft said to the guy "But you are admitting to having caused this problem, why should you be trusted to make it better?" (or something like that.)

I have to see if there is a youtube of it.

I rarely link to articles at the Wall Street Journal, for two obvious reasons. First, despite having a fantastic news department its editorial page is nuttier than a peanut farm in Georgia. Second, the recent change of ownership to Rupert Murdoch's News Corp and my long-standing boycott of all things Fux Gnus.

However, once in a while that fantastic news crew sells me a magic bean.

Palin talks to Kristoff...

I pointed out that Obama surely had a closer connection to the Rev. Jeremiah Wright than to Ayers — and so, I asked, if Ayers is a legitimate issue, what about Reverend Wright?

She didn’t hesitate: “To tell you the truth, Bill, I don’t know why that association isn’t discussed more, because those were appalling things that that pastor had said about our great country, and to have sat in the pews for 20 years and listened to that — with, I don’t know, a sense of condoning it, I guess, because he didn’t get up and leave — to me, that does say something about character. But, you know, I guess that would be a John McCain call on whether he wants to bring that up.”

Now what is interesting, is that McCain supposedly said that Wright if off limits... I doubt it. They are all liars. More at teh particularly pukoriffic Kristol Column.

Bring it Sarah... you have some serious pastor issues yerself, y' betcha.

wow - freedom of the press is a privilege? Perhaps she should have attended one of Obamas classes on Constitutional law...

(btw - I think she left out the word "for" in the "fighting freedom of the press" line as in "fighting for freedom of the press", so I wouldn't bust her too much for that. The "privilege" comment is disgusing enough all on its own).
