More too Much
Author: Raine    Date: 06/27/2019 13:10:09

The first set of debates is now in the record books. I said a little too early, I suspect, that lst night was the discussion and tonite would be the rumble. That was before Mayor De Blasio decided to start interrupting which was then followed by more interruptions.

There was a decent amount of substance last night, but I am going to say it. We have too many people running. I don't know why some of these people were up there last night.

I am still undecided, but I will admit, I favored Warren, Castro, Booker, and Klobuchar. In my opinion, O'Rourke looked like a fish out of the water on the stage. He failed to give answers that met my standards. Ryan became a hard pass for me and Delaney and De Blasio coming in as a soft pass.

Tonite will be another 10 men and women on the stage. It will probably be more bombastic than last night with both Biden and Sanders together on stage. I hope this field narrows down sooner rather than later, because quite frankly, while it might not be the most popular opnion, sometimes more is not merrier.

Sometimes more is just too much. Speaking of too much, I'm gonna leave this here.

Happy Thursday!

and

Raine

Morning

I'm right with you on Booker, Warren, Klobucher, and Castro

Also I think we both agreed Tulsi's hair was on point. #NotyouTulsi

Ryan kept pissing me off by dismissing people who live on the coasts.

DeBlasio - very yelly

Delaney - meh

Inslee - think he'd make a good member of that Cabinet

Beto - kind of disappointed with last night but heard him on Morning Joe and he was great. Just don't think debates are his forum.

I loved Tulsi's hair.

I didn't love that her sister whined last night.

Karl Frisch just said it as well:

Too many people on Stage.

So we’re reduced to counting the words each candidate said?

Wonder if any of tonight’s candidates will consider it a challenge to beat Booker’s number.

I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I .... That’s 11 words :)

I only brought that up because I think that Chuck Todd needs to talk less.

“talk less” = STFU as far as Chuckles is concerned.

Interesting that Breitfart & RT are declaring Tulsi the winner.

First up is Mitchell v. Wisconsin (Alito, 5-4): A challenge to a DUI blood test while the subject is unconscious, with obvious 4th & 5th Amendment implications. Looks like they decided that you don't need to get a warrant from a guy who's OBVIOUSLY passed out drunk.

Roberts has the decision for the gerrymandering cases.

Comment by Scoopster on 06/27/2019 14:09:25
OH YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME.

The decision is basically the SCOTUS saying that federal courts should stay out of the whole question of partisan gerrymandering.

So yeah, this will keep the shitty maps in Ohio, North Carolina and Maryland, unless the state courts do something about it or unless they're proven to be a racial gerrymander. Pennsylvania's new maps will probably remain in place since they were argued in the state courts.

The Census case was decided unanimously, with split concurrences and dissents all over the place.

Comment by Scoopster on 06/27/2019 14:44:26
Okay.. it seems like the discretion to add a citizenship question to the Census is allowed under the law and the Constitution, and the Census Act requires that such decisions be made reasonably. Wilbur Ross didn't do anything reasonably here, or even using demonstrable evidence to back up their justification for adding the question, so the question is OFF THE CENSUS.

So, if they had done it the right way and took to normal process to get it on there it would have been a-ok?

This could come back for the 2030 census, right?

Yes it seems that way. They'd need to follow proper procedure, as well as provide valid reasoning that isn't tainted by their petty desires. They can't do it this Census cuz it's too late, but it could certainly make a comeback later.

Oh for fuck's sake.. THEY JUST DID!
“I have asked the lawyers if they can delay the Census, no matter how long, until the United States Supreme Court is given additional information from which it can make a final and decisive decision on this very critical matter,” Trump tweeted.

you know, I just read a comment. regarding the gerrymandering case, and I am now kinda pissed. I thought the decision sucked, but actually felt like it might fall under a sttes rights situation (10th amemnement)

but then I saw this:

If Federal courts can't interfere with States on voting, Bush v. Gore should not have been heard
