Becoming Our Better Angels
Author: Raine    Date: 05/07/2020 12:50:39

Last night we took some time for blessed relief. We watched 'Becoming' on Netflix. It was 89 minutes of beauty, grace, and if I'm honest, a bit melancholy.

It was 89 minutes of being able to breathe. It was beauty and hope. It was inspirational and it is what we can still become again. Take it from her daughter:
What this has demonstrated in a way...just, damn, those eight years weren't for nothing, you know?" Malia, a junior at Harvard, tells Michelle as she signs books in one scene. "You see that huge crowd out there...people are here because people really believe in love and hope in other people." Sasha, now a freshman at University of Michigan, says of her mom's new chapter: "I'm excited for her to be proud of what she's done because I think that's the most important thing for a human to do, is be proud of themselves."
I admit, I find it difficult to miss the Obama family as much as I do. I think it's actually grieving due to where we find ourselves today and for the past 4 years. It's worth it though, I think it's healthy but most of all, it was just so good to hear and watch a kind person tell us we got this.

I miss the fist lady maybe even more than President Obama. It was so nice to look forward to something and this documentary delivered.

Now for a cherry on top of that cake, there is more to look forward too.

What every High School senior and College graduate is going through is just heartbreaking. I hope they know the entire country will be celebrating their achievements collectively this year. I am grateful for the honor and privilege to celebrate them and even more grateful for President and First lady Obama for showing compassion kindness and leadership for the future when it is so badly needed at this time. One of those graduates will eventually become president and she will have someone showing them how to lead the way.

There are better angels among us. Happy Thursday.

and
Raine

Good morning, bloggers!!

I am working on more reports for school.

I have some bad news. Seven people at my brother's work have tested positive for COVID-19. So, he is worried and neither of us will visit my Mom or sister for some time .

My brother is scared. I take every precaution going out. I fear that we will see numbers spike up even more as we have states reopen.

I told my brother to call the Illinois Department of Labor. I fear that we have too many Americans who are willing to put profits over people and are willing to sacrifice workers on the altars of Mammon.

Greetings, comrades.

I actually got about 7 hours on the clock today.

Completely unrelated to any trolley business - we have decided to use our "in-house" labor pool to help renovate one of our physical locations. I missed the demo, but I volunteered to be on the "paint" team.

Spent most of the day up on a ladder painting all the high stuff nobody else wanted to do. What fun. (No, not sarcasm.) I haven't been "out" in two and a half weeks - didn't need an alarm clock this morning.

I'm ready. So I hereby designate Donald J. Trump of New York, aged 73 years and in the high-risk pool, to die of Covid so I can go back to work.
