Good Monday Morning.

In my ongoing effort to rejuvenate myself, I will attempt to write a blog.

I spent a good portion of the weekend away from the internet. I started my garden. It was good to be in the dirt and feeling the warmth of the sun on my back.

It felt good. It seemed as though this winter would never end; perhaps it is more perception than actual truth, but it was a long cold winter. For some, it still lingers on.

I planted Dill, Catnip and Basil. There are a few more herbs to come. I may have to replant rosemary if my sad little bush doesn't make it back this year. Spinach, Carrots and lettuce are on the way, as is Bell peppers, bok choy and of course, Red Cabbage.

After today's rain, I will start the Cucumber mound. Next week tomatoes will be added. I'll be in the back yard cleaning the leaves that fell after the fall was supposedly over and see what flower bulbs will be returning. I already see signs of life from my purple and white coneflowers. The Hostas are coming out of hibernation.

As always, my bearded Iris are ready to burst on the scene and take over the yard. They will dwarf my already blooming hyacinths and mini daffodils. The tulips are slow to awaken from their winter slumber, but they are slowly rousing as well.

The weekend was sprinkled with little girls visiting to help me plant seeds. They are nearly four now, and they have a curiosity about gardening and plants. They are at an age now where they understand that seeds in the ground will become plants that we can visually enjoy and sometimes eat.

Their parents visited too - we sat on our steps shared a beverage and laughed. We all said we were happy to finally be able to enjoy the weather and see each other.

Spring is here. A rebirth is happening. It makes my soul smile.
