Well, Americans are ignorant ant stupid, aren't we?


Look, I try to stay up-to-date on current events. I'm highly interested in the goings-on around the world.

But why do I think all of us (Yes, us too) are ignorant and stupid in world matters?

The Media.

What have they been reporting on for weeks? I swear, the only thing happening in the world today is Israel vs. Hamas.

I'm not wrong. I can't look at Google news, the BBC, or AP or UPI without it being slammed in my face 24/7/365.

I've said it from day one; THIS IS NOT OUR EMERGENCY.

If Israel was the 51st state, it might be different, but it's not. I really wish the rest of the United States would stop acting like it is.

If only there was the same level of passion and demonstration for the things that effect Americans in their daily lives.

I've long had this argument with my Cuban mother-in-law. You left Cuba over 50 years ago. I really don't care about your past; why don't you consider what is best for Americans in America instead of Cuba?

But it always falls on deaf ears.

So, we go on, pretending that every crisis around the world is THE MOST IMPORTANT THING to America.

News flash: IT ISN'T.

But what can one lowly citizen do about that?

Well, absolutely fucking nothing.

And so the war state will proceed on. One day this country will collapse, just like the Soviet Union did in the wake of Afghanistan. I can't point to what will be our downfall, but there's plenty of things out there.

That old tree of liberty is long overdue for refreshing.
