Breathe Easier? Yes We Will.

Yesterday we attended Day one of the Atlanta Dogwood Festival. It made me feel like the beginning of a new season. Granted, for many, spring has been here for a while, but this is the festival for me that ushers in the warm weather. This weekend we also have the Sweetwater 420 Festival at another nearby park. For those that don't know, Sweetwater is a local Brewery and 420 is their signature beer.

The 420 Fest is interesting in that it is a celebration of Earth day, helping to enlighten people to how we can live more green and the steps we can take to save our Earth. It's is great for Children and families and celebrates a great cause: The Earth. We all know Earth Day, it has been a global celebration for years. This year we have something really big to celebrate. That is: This year we have an EPA that actually is working to protect the environment.
"In both magnitude and probability, climate change is an enormous problem," concluded EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson in a 130-page report. She found that projected levels of greenhouse gases "endanger the public health and welfare of current and future generations."
This clears the way for the government to regulate greenhouse gasses. It also clears the way for the Energy Department to assist states in mandating auto efficiency. This has been something we saw little to no help from in the previous administration. Gone are the days of Clear Skies Initiative as it was once known.

With this decision (and the ensuing regulations), not only can we see CO2 emmisions drop from companies thru a proposed cap and trade program for companies and corporations, but with cleaner air, it is very likely the health risks posed to humans will decrease. In other words: healthier people. Imagine a world where the number of asthma cases is decreasing instead of increasing.
But the EPA also says global warming will have broader health effects on the population. The agency found in July that global warming could increase rates of heat stroke, infectious diseases, drownings due to higher water levels, more frequent and intense wildfires, and water-quality problems.

"In both magnitude and probability, climate change is an enormous problem. The greenhouse gases that are responsible for it endanger public health and welfare within the meaning of the Clean Air Act," the EPA says.
The general welfare of Human beings have been at risk. With this report, we can all work on making this a better world. Not just with clean energy solutions, but with body and mind! I think it will happen. The president would like for Congress to take these steps, but if they don't, Sen. Barbara Boxer, D-Calif., the chairwoman of the Environment and Public Works Committee. said:
"If Congress does not act to pass legislation, then I will call on EPA to take all steps authorized by law to protect our families,"

Thru all the claptrap of the week, on this Saturday take a deep breath and know that you and I will be able to breathe easier in the future!

:peace: and
Raine
