Pardon Me
Author: BobR    Date: 02/19/2020 14:25:45

During tRump's impeachment hearings, the main justification for his quid pro quo on aid to Ukraine was the Republican's insistence that tRump was trying to root out corruption, despite all evidence to the contrary. Yesterday, he further destroyed all notions of being "anti-corruption" when he pardoned 11 convicted criminals, all of whose crimes reflect a part of tRump's unsavory character: Edward DeBartolo, Jr., Michael Milken, Ariel Friedler, Bernard Kerik, Paul Pogue, David Safavian, and Angela Stanton.

In addition, President Trump signed Executive Grants of Clemency granting commutations to Rod Blagojevich, Tynice Nichole Hall, Crystal Munoz, and Judith Negron.

Some of these names are instantly recognizable; others are more obscure (although someone in the tRump "administration" knows who they are and likely lobbied on their behalf). Let's take a look...

Ask a Vet

Good Morning.

There's actually not much happening on the veteran's front this morning. So instead, we'll ask the question of the hour - have you voted yet? So far, only Iowa and New Hampshire have had their say, but super Tuesday is rapidly approaching. There's only two actual veterans remaining in the race.

Who buys this stuff?

Have you seen the ad?

Given that New Hampshire is our next door neighbor, since about the first of the year, we've been seeing a ludicrous ad for something called a "Battle for the White House" chess set.

Lowering the Barr
Author: BobR    Date: 02/12/2020 15:04:00

Late last year, perennial rat-fucker and tRump buddy Roger Stone was convicted on 7 counts, including Obstruction of Congress. The prosecution requested a sentence of 7 years, despite being able to request up to 50. This seemed light to most people, especially considering Stone's long history of subverting the Constitution (and law) for personal and political gain.

Attorney General Bill Barr had other ideas. At tRump's apparent request (a day after he tweeted that the sentence was "a miscarriage of justice"), he stepped in and overruled the attorneys under his purview, and requested a greatly reduced sentence. All four federal prosecuters resigned in protest. Ultimately, it's still up to the judge in the case to decide on the actual penalty.
