Merry Christmas - shopping lists
Author: velveeta jones    Date: 12/10/2017 16:59:37

Merry Christmas everyone! Thanks to Daddy Trump, we no longer must be burdened with having to say "happy holidays" to all those pagans and other non-Christians. This is OUR season; why can't they let us have this one time of year when we celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior by getting new electronic devices and plastic decorations? It's our time and we will say Merry Christmas again.

Desperate Times
Author: BobR    Date: 12/07/2017 15:10:28

Desperation makes people (or groups) do desperate things. The GOP - despite controlling the House, Senate, and Executive branch - sense that their window of opportunity is limited, due to their gross incompetence and galling self-interest. They can't help themselves in that latter aspect, but they're not even being remotely clever about it.

With tRump, they have the equivalent of that drunk rowdy friend who does all the outrageous things that make their own transgressions look tame by comparison. With the Mueller investigation already bearing fruit (and the revelation that he's subpoenaed tRump's financial records from money-laundering Deutche Bank), the writing is on the wall. By mid 2018, we could have an appointed president (ala Gerald Ford), and that's a scary unknown for the Republicans.

Ask a Vet
Author: TriSec    Date: 12/05/2017 10:44:55

Good Morning.

We'll head right out to the hospital this morning. We all have a doctor or more medical providers that we should be going to on a regular basis. We'd all like to think that our doctor is the best one - or at least competent, but without being overly alarmed, please try to remember that 50% of all doctors have graduated in the bottom half of their class.

Let's Talk Treason
Author: TriSec    Date: 12/02/2017 12:57:40

Good Morning.

Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort. No Person shall be convicted of Treason unless on the Testimony of two Witnesses to the same overt Act, or on Confession in open Court.

The Congress shall have Power to declare the Punishment of Treason, but no Attainder of Treason shall work Corruption of Blood, or Forfeiture except during the Life of the Person attainted.

The Constitution does not itself create the offense; it only restricts the definition (the first paragraph), permits Congress to create the offense, and restricts any punishment for treason to only the convicted (the second paragraph). The crime is prohibited by legislation passed by Congress. Therefore, the United States Code at 18 U.S.C. § 2381 states:

Whoever, owing allegiance to the United States, levies war against them or adheres to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort within the United States or elsewhere, is guilty of treason and shall suffer death, or shall be imprisoned not less than five years and fined under this title but not less than $10,000; and shall be incapable of holding any office under the United States.

The requirement of testimony of two witnesses was inherited from the British Treason Act 1695.
