Chaos Theory
Author: TriSec    Date: 08/12/2017 10:25:00

Dr. Ian Malcolm: There. Look at this. See? See? I'm right again. Nobody could've predicted that Dr. Grant would suddenly, suddenly jump out of a moving vehicle.
Dr. Ellie Sattler: Alan? Alan!
[Jumps out of the vehicle]
Dr. Ian Malcolm: There's, another example.
[laughs to himself]
Dr. Ian Malcolm: See, here I'm now sitting by myself, uh, er, talking to myself. That's, that's chaos theory.

The Fallout
Author: Raine    Date: 08/09/2017 13:16:31

I am, once again at a loss for words when it comes to what is happening to our country -- and the world. What 45 said yesterday was indeed dangerous and scary. He's as recklessly impulsive and irresponsible as Kim Jong Un.

Ask a Vet

Good Morning.

It looks like there might be things happening on the Veteran's healthcare front. A breathy tweet from Dear Leader is extolling the virtues of some recent proposals and technology solutions. I mean, really. It's going to be the best VA we can possibly have.

The Interview!
Author: velveeta jones    Date: 08/06/2017 16:54:32

Whew! It's been an exhausting 198 days, 0 hours, 7 minutes, 21 seconds, since our president was elected to run the country and make us great again. Time for a well deserved vacation. Your own Velveeta was able to speak to President Trump just after he arrived in New Jersey while waiting for his KFC to be delivered before he hits the links. That's golf lingo.

Fluffy Friday

There are weeks when I really want to laugh my butt off at the craziness of this chaos. Then I remember this is reality and we are in the car that Toonces has driven nearly off the cliff and are teetering there holding our collective breath waiting to see we finally over over.

Here's to another week, have some cute.

The President of AmeriKKKa
Author: BobR    Date: 08/03/2017 13:43:41

There was a lot of brewhaha yesterday over the presser with tRump senior policy adviser Stephen Miller. As can be seen in this video, he had some rather interesting things to say about immigration and the Statue of Liberty:
CNN’s Jim Acosta sparred with White House adviser Stephen Miller in a seriously heated back-and-forth over immigration.

Acosta told Miller, “What you’re proposing or what the President’s proposing here does not sound like it’s in keeping with American tradition when it comes to immigration.”

He quoted the words on the Statue of Liberty “Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses” and asked Miller if he’s “trying to change what it means to be an immigrant coming into this country.”

Miller pushed back by saying the words were “added later” and things got even more heated from there.

Miller is certainly playing fast and loose with the facts there. The poem "The New Colossus" by Emma Lazrarus was donated by her to the cause in 1883, prior to the statue's dedication in 1886. It's true it wasn't actually inscribed and added until 1892 - a mere 6 years later - but it's been part of the statue's raison d'être since the beginning. Right from the start, the statue represented the welcoming of immigrants to America to Ellis Island, which also began ramping up its processing in - wait for it - 1892.
