Don't know how many of you have heard of The Hillywood Show, they do parodies of pop culture shows and movies. They are so good at it in fact that they have have been approved by many of the shows they parody.

I thought on this Friday, to get our minds off the the honorific tire fire that is the campaign of Don the Con, I'd post a couple here.

There are many things that are being said about last nights Commander in Chief Forum Hosted by IAVA. There were seemingly minor foibles such as this, as reported by the Hill:

Wednesday Science Stack
Author: BobR    Date: 09/07/2016 14:00:44

Yes, FOX "News" is melting down. Yes, the tRump campaign is circling the bowl. Yes, he held a fundraiser for the prosecutor who dropped his case. But today, we take a break from presidential campaign politics to revisit an old friend - the Science Stack. It's been quite a while since we perused the myriad interesting science-related stories out there. So let's feed our minds for one day before we wallow in the mud.

First up: The Juno Jupiter probe. The Juno probe was launched 5 years ago with the goal of giving us a better understanding of the largest planet in our solar system. It has completed a few orbits, and sent back the first pictures of Jupiter's north pole (which is not visible from earth). It was not what scientists expected:

Good Morning.

I hope everyone had a good Labor Day weekend.

As a product of hopefully American Labor, let's take a look at a couple of equipment and gear stories today. Of course, we'll start with my favourite whipping post, the "Flying Turd". Despite what you may have heard recently about it being combat-ready, there's still evidence to the contrary.

Pastor Mark Burns is one of Donald Trumps major African American supporters and surrogates. He's not "the one" but he is one of many several few blacks that want to Make America Great Again™

A double standard before God
Author: TriSec    Date: 09/03/2016 12:48:14

Good Morning.

I saw the briefest of memes on Facebook the other day, and it literally stopped me in my tracks. It was somewhat out of context, but it got me thinking, and I thought I'd try to expand upon it a little bit today.

When was the last time you saw a nun? I mean a traditional, old-school, scary nun?

Even if you're not Catholic, you could probably identify her at a distance, and merely by her look, dress, and attitude you probably even know how to behave around such a pious person.

But think about this - a nun dresses like that for a multitude of reasons.

Not illegal
Author: Raine    Date: 09/01/2016 13:34:57

Illegal is a term from criminal case law. A human being is not illegal. They may be undocumented and in violation of civil law but people are not illegal. If a person. (documented, naturalized or citizen by birth) breaks criminal law, they pay a fine or face a jury. This is basic stuff. Undocumented people aren't coming over the border in the fashion that the GOP nominee would have you believe -- if you were to believe the hyperbole, one would be led to the belief that it is of locust-like proportions. They are here, they have families and lives deeply entrenched in this nation. Getting here isn't as easy as the GOP would have you believe. Read this account from a high school child.

The Candidacy as Greek Tragedy
Author: BobR    Date: 08/31/2016 13:11:26

Since the time of Greek Tragedy, we have been warned of the dangers of hubris. It's a simmering stew of pride, narcissism, and stubbornness that causes the hubristic to crash headlong into dire fates, ignoring the warnings along the way, assuming ones self to be immune to the consequences. There's a saying "Pride goeth before a fall", which fits into this same description. It also seems to be befitting of Candidate tRump.

As Citizen tRump, he was able to do all sorts of "business" without attracting a lot of attention. Sure, he'd splash his name all over everything like a dog marking his territory, but after a while people just shook their heads and chalked it up to "Trump being Trump". He was a ridiculous figure, one who bragged about his business acumen, while privately filing bankruptcies and quietly walking away from his many failures with whatever shekels he could stash in his sack.

Good Morning.

I've got a couple of things from Afghanistan last week. You surely heard that another US soldier has been killed. When the story broke, there were few details, but now he has a name. Which we'll pause to remember, as the news instantly disappeared from the headlines a day later.
