Ms. Patricia Arquette:
“To every woman who gave birth, to every taxpayer and citizen of this nation, we have fought for everybody else’s equal rights,” shouted a fiery Arquette. “It’s our time to have wage equality once and for all and equal rights for women in the United States of America!”

'Muricka. What happened (Part 1)
Author: velveeta jones    Date: 02/22/2015 14:40:01

Well, I had planned to write a screed on "what's wrong with America?" [Spoiler Alert: quite a bit]. But I overslept. So here's just a sample teaser:

Do it Again!
Author: TriSec    Date: 02/21/2015 12:44:23

Good Morning.

Well, it's been a few weeks since the Republicans took over the Kongruss. The leadership made some bold predictions, and surely they'd take their new-found power to new heights by passing some actual legislation?

The Clay Hunt act notwithstanding, it seems like the new Kongruss is doing just as well as the old Kongruss. The problem isn't the members of that august body, but rather the President.

Too cold to brain today. It was 0 degrees with a wind chill of -10 when much of the DC Metro woke up this morning. This is the friggin' South dang it! It should not be this cold here.

And you guys in the Northeast - just really, I don't know how ya'll aren't snow crazy by now.

He's his own man, he says.
"I recognize that as a result, my views will often be held up in comparison to theirs’— sometimes in contrast to theirs’," he will add, according to prepared remarks provided by his aides in advance. "I love my father and my brother. I admire their service to the nation and the difficult decisions they had to make. But I am my own man — and my views are shaped by my own thinking and own experiences. Each president learns from those who came before — their principles … their adjustments. One thing we know is this: Every president inherits a changing world … and changing circumstances."
That's exactly what it looks like….

Sharia Law
Author: BobR    Date: 2015-02-18 11:49:41

Republicans and FOX "News" spend a lot of time trying to instill fear in those who listen to them. They bellow about socialism and terrorism and guns and taxes in an effort to make voters so fearful of Democrats that they'll vote against their own interests because they equate the Democrats with something worse. FDR once said "we have nothing to fear but fear itself", and that fear is what they peddle.

One fear they traffic in quite often is the absurd nation that somehow the U.S. will adopt Muslim Sharia law. They never quite explain how, or which laws, they just put throw that out there like a lit package of firecrackers and watch everyone run for cover. The irony, of course, is that religious law IS becoming a problem here in the U.S. - it just isn't the Muslim variety.

Good Morning.

Today is our 243rd day back in Iraq.

There have been no new American casualties.

We find this morning's Cost of War passing through:

$ 1, 604, 444, 675, 000 .00

It's been that kind of a week; 7 days ago I had nothing, but then I've been swamped. So we'll just head in and dump away.
