Don't really have anything for today, in a bit of a blah for a few reasons. But I saw this yesterday and just thought it was beautiful.

Have a good Friday and weekend everyone.

Are they conservative?
Author: Raine    Date: 02/12/2015 14:01:52

Conservatives? No these people are not worthy of conservatism — they are mean hate-filled heartless humans.

I cannot call them conservative even if they call themselves such a thing.

Music Has No Race
Author: BobR    Date: 2015-02-11 11:56:12

The music business is strange. It is an industry where an artist (or - generally - a team of artists and technicians) create music, which is then copied to meet demand and sold. There are no singular "one of a kind" pieces of work - the very nature of it is that it can be duplicated exactly. A well written song or concerto is replayed and re-recorded through the years by various other artists who are touched by the original composition.

In modern music, though, success and recognition is often add odds with the originality of the work, and the skill of the performer. Talented musicians watch in despair as less talented and creative-impaired contemporaries capture the attention of the fickle music-consuming public, and become wildly rich and successfully. Being attractive and willing to dress provocatively certainly helps.

Good Morning.

Today is our 236th day back in Iraq.

There have been no new US casualties in either theatre.

And we find this morning's Cost of War passing through:

$ 1, 602, 673, 700, 000 .00

Whigging out

Last November the house increased its GOP majority and the Senate found itself with a Republican majority. The conservatives were happy. They would now be ready to legislate their agenda. The new Senate majority Leader was ready to go to work.

Christian Grey for President
Author: velveeta jones    Date: 02/08/2015 14:17:37

Good morning 4 F-ers. I had in mind to write todays blog about the backlash from our President's prayer breakfast speech. He won't call ISIS "muslims", he reminds Americans that we also burned people, the crusades were kinda bad, and the KKK is a christian group. Blah, blah, blah. Insert hysteria-from-the-right here.

For want of a Vaccine

Nearly 30 years ago now, I had the extraordinary privilege to travel to Nova Scotia, Canada as part of an American Boy Scout troop that had been invited to participate in “ScotiaJamb”, a province-wide jamboree of Canadian scouts. Nearly 7,000 Scouts and Scouters from across many of the Maritime Provinces journeyed to the brand-new provincial park at Dollar Lake to partake in the inaugural festivities.

Yesterday I was listening to our local news-ish radio station, WTOP. They were announcing that the new Sports Illustrated Swimsuit edition was out, like it was real news, pop culture new - sure, real new - no.Anyway, they were very excited to report that SI was including the first plus-size model in the issue. I remember joking that she was probably a size 2.

Later in the day they started releasing pictures for the press to promote the issue. I don't usually pay attention, its not my thing, I just roll my eyes and move along. Being a plus sized woman myself, I was curious to see what they considered as a representative for those above the average.

Her name is Robyn Lawly. She's lovely, beautiful, health looking and I'm sure a sweet girl. Meet SI's Official Plus Size Model (bold mine)

Pipe Dreams
Author: BobR    Date: 2015-02-04 11:48:21

The debate about the Keystone XL pipeline has been ongoing ever since it was conceived. With Democrats controlling the Senate and the White House for the last 6 years, there was never a chance it would be approved to move forward. That may change. The bill passed the Senate last week with nearly a 2/3 majority (62-36). Yes, that means a number of Democrats voted for it; naturally every single Republican voted for it (except for Marco Rubio, who was out campaigning for the 2016 presidential race). It will likely hit the House floor next week for vote, where it will also likely pass. From there, it's onto the president's desk, where it will hopefully be vetoed.
