Damn Power Company
Author: BobR    Date: 02/25/2011 13:28:55

I was 90% done with my blog this morning when the power went out. I lost it all. I am not in any mood to rewrite it now. Talk amongst yourselves...

Last night the power went on and off about 5-6 times. I don't get it, we're supposed to have a high wind warning, but It's not windy here.

Momma seems to have had issues as well this morning....

Oh, ouch.

We're in downpour mode this morning, but cars coming south from NH were snow-covered.

I'll be donning my chainmail, gathering my saber, and heading for the supermarket later.

You all will excuse me whilst I pick my jaw up off the floor.

BBC is interviewing a doctor in Tripoli right now. He's stated that Khadafi supporters have been going through the hospitals and shooting the wounded, then taking the bodies out of town to a military base so it can be covered up from the media.

Hitler much?

Pathetic. But not shocking.

Fox News Chief, Roger Ailes, Urged Employee to Lie, Records Show

Now, court documents filed in a lawsuit make clear whom Ms. Regan was accusing of urging her to lie: Roger E. Ailes, the powerful chairman of Fox News and a longtime friend of Mr. Giuliani. What is more, the documents say that Ms. Regan taped the telephone call from Mr. Ailes in which Mr. Ailes discussed her relationship with Mr. Kerik.

Suddenly Governing isn't so easy, is it?

Teabaggers and their supporters are ALL for cuts, until THEIR pet project is put on the chopping block.
The former Manchester mayor axed funds for after-school programs in his hometown. He voted against money to replace an aging bridge in Portsmouth. And he backed steep reductions for health centers that treat thousands of New Hampshire's uninsured. But Guinta also found that he had some limits. He wasn't willing to cut a subsidy for heating bills. And he tried to rescue some pork: a $450 million fighter engine that not even the Pentagon wants.

As they return to their districts after the budget debate, Guinta and many of his fellow Republicans are discovering that fiscal responsibility can be a tricky business. Many federal programs reside in a vast gray zone, somewhere between worthy and wasteful. And while pledging to rise above local interests can establish a candidate as a principled outsider, for a member of Congress, it's often a quick way to guarantee a short career.

"This is not campaigning, this is governing," Guinta said in an interview. "They're two very different things. And you have to be very careful what you say when you're campaigning, because people will hold you accountable."

From BBC, by way of apparent confirmation:

1447: Just coming in from Geneva, news of the latest international defections to hit Col Gaddafi: The Libyan envoy to the UN in the Swiss city has told the Human Rights Council that he and the rest of the Geneva diplomatic mission "represent only the Libyan people" and not Col Gaddafi's government.

I'd like to see the video as well.

From Mother Jones, regarding this mornings vote:
In the end, the final vote was 51 to 17, with 28 members—25 Democrats, two GOPers, and one independent—not even voting.

Why? Here's how it went down. A shade after 1 a.m. on Friday morning, the Assembly speaker pro tempore suddenly cut off the debate and demanded a vote. Then the voting window was opened for just a few seconds, long enough for a GOP majority to cast its votes and approve the bill. The moment the vote ended, the Republicans picked up and headed for the door. The move stunned the Democrats in the Assembly, leaving them livid. Some Democrats yelled "Shame!" and "Cowards!" at their Republican counterparts; others hurled papers into the air; one even threw a drink.

The whole thing caught Assembly Democrats by surprise. For one, they still had 15 speakers on deck to debate the bill. Republicans also failed to invoke the traditional motion and roll call used when signaling that the debate is over and it's time to vote.

Looks like the Secret Service was satisfied when the 'constituent' shat his pants upon their arrival.

"We're aware of the incident and the appropriate steps were taken," Donovan told me. "At this point it's a closed matter."

A law enforcement source confirmed that the Secret Service interviewed the constituent and determined that he or she was an "elderly person" who now regrets making a bad joke.

"In this case this was poor taste," the source says. "The person realized that."
Broun, however needs to stop this fanning the flames shit. We could save a lot of taxpayer money if we didn't have to have the Secret service making visits like this.

Good morning folks.

A crappy day here in New York We have a flood alert which is probably why I didn't feel like waking up right away. We have a flood alert today but at least it's washing away what's left of the snow that's been on the ground for 2 months.
