My compute rjust crashed -- hard. Upon reboot, I lost everything for the blog. The story is not irrelevant since everyone knows.

I will come up with something better in a few.

Rick perry is out. I was trying to write about that and the Santorum thing -- stupit locked compuper.

Morning, comrades! You got your Santorum all over my Romney!

Comment by Mondobubba on 01/19/2012 14:17:28
Aww darn it. Perry's out? The freaksho I mean GOP debate just got a whole less crazy then. If it just Gingrich, Romney, Santorum and Paul it'll just be mean.

As long as Paul is in it, there will be plenty of crazy to go around

Comment by Raine on 01/19/2012 14:26:42
and I really think that this news will benefit Rick Santorum. With Newt nipping at the heals of Romeny -- and with the interview set to air of his ex wife -- newt should feel the sting.

Changing gears briefly, did we all hear about the Iranian film that's been winning all the international awards? It won best foreign film at the Golden Globes, and there's rumours that it will place well at the Oscars, too.

Best to seek shelter now, there's sure to be a lot of exploding heads about.

Oh, and another thing...it's amusing listening to the BBC presenters stumble over "Santorum" today. It's almost like they don't want to say it. I wonder why?

Perry is going to back Gingrich. I'm kinda surprised about that, I sorta thought he would endorse Santorum.

Comment by Raine on 01/19/2012 14:55:36
This Gingrich interview sounds like it might be plenty interesting. My bets are on this:

His second wife was forced to have an abortion.

He got another mistress pregnant and paid for the abortion.

I'm thinking it's abortion related.

"He came to her and said, 'I want to stay married to you and still have an affair with Calista, his current wife," said Ross. "According to Marianne, he said 'You need to share me,' and she said 'I don't want to share,' and the marriage ended," he added.

Ross told WMAL that ABC News had been trying to land the interview with Marianne Gingrich off-and-on since November, and that she finally agreed to sit down with him last Friday here in Washington.

File under "Totally missing the point".

Newt, you want to have sex with other women, why get married in the first place? Or is it because in our parochial, uptight, society...our leaders are *required* to have wives, no matter how many?

Could James Buchanan even be elected today? (not speaking policy-wise.)

Buchanan was engaged and his fiance died, right? HE vowed to never marry again, and kept true to his word.

Power & money. They are weird attractors.

Newt didn't want an open marrige, he wanted the permission of the second Mrs Gingrich so he could continue to bang Callista.

Comment by Raine on 01/19/2012 16:29:01
Brian Ross -- the man who did the interview writes:
She said when Gingrich admitted to a six-year affair with a Congressional aide, he asked her if she would share him with the other woman, Callista, who is now married to Gingrich.

"And I just stared at him and he said, 'Callista doesn't care what I do,'" Marianne Gingrich told ABC News. "He wanted an open marriage and I refused."

Marianne described her "shock" at Gingrich's behavior, including how she says she learned he conducted his affair with Callista "in my bedroom in our apartment in Washington."

Comment by Raine on 01/19/2012 16:34:44
So, HOW at this point does Newt rigorously defend DOMA?

Defending Marriage. As President, I will vigorously enforce the Defense of Marriage Act, which was enacted under my leadership as Speaker of the House, and ensure compliance with its provisions, especially in the military. I will also aggressively defend the constitutionality of DOMA in federal and state courts. I will support sending a federal constitutional amendment defining marriage as the union of one man and one woman to the states for ratification. I will also oppose any judicial, bureaucratic, or legislative effort to define marriage in any manner other than as between one man and one woman. I will support all efforts to reform promptly any uneconomic or anti-marriage aspects of welfare and tax policy. I also pledge to uphold the institution of marriage through personal fidelity to my spouse and respect for the marital bonds of others.

I'm sorry -- this is a bridge too far. HE may SAY he got god's forgiveness -- but that doesn't fly with this story.
