=====================================================

and on with the show!......

Looking for Osama and they found Spitzer. How convenient.
Uninteneed Consquences; From Newsweek:
The Patriot Act gave the FBI new powers to snoop on suspected terrorists. In the fine print were provisions that gave the Treasury Department authority to demand more information from banks about their customers' financial transactions. Congress wanted to help the Feds identify terrorist money launderers. But Treasury went further. [...]

Another element of the formulas: whether an account holder was a "politically exposed person." At first focused on potentially crooked foreign officials, the PEP lists expanded to include many U.S. politicians and public officials who were conceivably vulnerable to corruption.

I wonder how many of these politicians are republican and how many are democrat. We already have discovered that our Department of Justice is tainted. That another Democratic Governor is in jail.... How many other cases do we have like this?

The very idea that we are considering our own people, politicians as PEP's because the Government says so because of the patriot act, is something that seems to be wrought with Corruption. The law was written for one thing, and now it is being used as a dragnet for anything the feds think is suspicious, including politicians.

Remember when cases needed to be built upon evidence and investigation? Well thanks to this administration and those that passed the patriot act, it is no more. Innocent until proven guilty no longer matters. Eliot Spitzer got caught while we were supposed to be finding Osama Bin Laden.

And... if you think for one minute the president is telling you the truth that the NSA only spies on foreigners, and only to get the terra-ists™I have a bridge to sell you in Brooklyn. Those wiretaps will eventually, if they have not already been so, used to dragnet regular Americans. We are no longer innocent until proven guilty. Eliot Spitzer now knows all too well.

Saint Patrick drove the snakes out of Ireland. It is time we Americans drove our own snakes out of Washington.
:peace: and
Raine O' Martinio ;)

Ideally that would be the thing to do. First off Mom hates comfrontation. Second the person over her boss is her VP hubby, so she didn't feel like she had anywhere to go.

Her husband is one of the company's VP's. Plus she is good friends with one of the other VP's. She would have stayed if it weren't for this woman who wasn't willing to train mom in the job she was hired to do and put an incredible amount of stress on her.

Mala, under the circumstances, your mother should be eligible for unemployment. She needs to put together as detailed a list as possible with dates of all the problems this woman gave her. Most likely, unless the company doesn't dispute the claim, there will be a hearing. In which case, your mother may need to consult with an attorney. I googled "quitting and getting unemployment" without the quotes and every state's website had a provision for bad work conditions that included harassment.

Two years ago I was very excited that mom got what we thought was a great job at a contracting office with really good pay. She's been going a great job for those two years for want turns out is a psycho boss. This woman throws things, slams stuff around including her door, makes snotty comments within earshot of the person she's trying to cut down and generally over the last month has been nitpicking mom to the point she is a ball of stress, second guessing everything she does and we even drove out her office on sunday to triple check something she did on friday.

We talked about it all weekend and the whole situation has been nothing but stressing the whole house out for about month. Which is why I haven't been really talkative the last week.

Anyway - this morning mom gave her two weeks notice. She has no fall back for a job, this is probably one of the biggest risks she's ever taken. So I'm hoping everyong will keep us in their prayers or good wishes for her to find a good job with good people.

Oh - and I'm still going to the DC thing in April! :)

Really, well have to look into that thanks :)

I'm willing to pay a small surcharge, but not hundreds of dollars - vamos a ver (we'll see...). I'll let you all know as soon as I know more. No I mean 2010, the next time the party gets together and BEFORE the next presidential election year. Not sure if they are going to have a big fancy convention, but 2010 is when the party gets together to makes the rules for the next election year. We can't change the rules DURING an election year, so 2010 would be the next logical time to do so.

This whole superdelegate crap was because they didn't want another McGovern, but I think the times have changed (not that there was anything worng with McGovern, Nixon was the problem) and the party should respect what the voters want but the insiders probably don't want to give up their power and they are the ones that got us in this mess to begin with.

Does it strike anyone else as completely unbelievable that Sec. Paulson chants his mantra that the Bush Administration has a "strong dollar policy" while every action they take (flooding the market with dollars, decreasing interest rates and offering Fed funds to institutions to buy others, secured by subprime mortgages) has the exact opposite effect?
