Ugly Truths About the Dead.
Author: Raine    Date: 05/06/2013 13:33:53

From NPR:
The city of Cambridge has asked Tamerlan Tsarnaev's family not to request that he be buried in a city-owned graveyard, and four privately owned cemeteries have said they won't take the suspect's body.
It should be noted that Lee Harvey Oswald is buried at Fort Worth. Timothy McVeigh was cremated. Ted Bundy and many other wicked people have been buried. Adam Lanza was buried (or creamated). No one will take the corpse of Tsarnaev.

The widow of Tamerlan Tsarnaev, Katherine Russell has relinquished her claim to the body.
"It is Katherine Russell's wish that his remains be released to the Tsarnaev family, and we will communicate her wishes to the proper authorities," the statement from attorney Amata DeLuca said.

An uncle told the Associated Press that relatives would claim the body. "Of course, family members will take possession of the body," Ruslan Tsarni of Montgomery Village, Md., said. "We'll do it. We will do it. A family is a family.
Family is family. This Uncle is taking the body and wishes to bury his nephew in accordance to his family religion. According islamic burial tradition, cremation is not an option. Here is the burial procedure:
The deceased is then taken to the cemetery for burial (al-dafin). While all members of the community attend the funeral prayers, only the men of the community accompany the body to the gravesite. It is preferred for a Muslim to be buried where he or she died, and not be transported to another location or country (which may cause delays or require embalming the body). If available, a cemetery (or section of one) set aside for Muslims is preferred. The deceased is laid in the grave (without a coffin if permitted by local law) on his or her right side, facing Mecca. At the gravesite, it is discouraged for people to erect tombstones, elaborate markers, or put flowers or other momentos. Rather, one should humbly remember Allah and His mercy, and pray for the deceased.
Due to the circumstances of United States laws (as opposed to religious law), the body will not be given a full islamic funeral; however, the body still needs to be disposed of somehow.

Why is this so difficult to find a place to bury Tsarnaev? We were able to dispose of Osama Bin Laden's body in accordance with his religion:
According to another message from the Vinson's public affairs officer, only a small group of the ship's leadership was informed of the burial.

"Traditional procedures for Islamic burial was followed," the May 2 email from Rear Adm. Charles Gaouette reads. "The deceased's body was washed (ablution) then placed in a white sheet. The body was placed in a weighted bag. A military officer read prepared religious remarks, which were translated into Arabic by a native speaker. After the words were complete, the body was placed on a prepared flat board, tipped up, whereupon the deceased's body slid into the sea."
You see, after his death, his religion and the disposal of his body was respected. I believe that the right thing to do. There is no grave to worship; that was by design.

A local radio station is asking: What do you think -- should Tamerlan Tsarnaev be allowed to be buried on U.S. soil? Or, is this really about religious intolerance? Is it that Tsarnaev was a follower of Islam where the other people I mentioned weren't? Perhaps he should be buried on US Soil -- a country he appeared to hate so much. That would be more karmic than vengeance or religious intolerance. He could be buried at sea. That would leave no memorial or grave to vandalize.

One thing I believe is that the Tsarni's should not have to sacrifice their religious tradition because of the actions of the Tsarnaev's. They aren't responsible for the Marathon bombing, I don't see why they should be forced to further sacrifice thier religion.

If we could figure out what to do with the World most wanted terrorist surely we can figure out what to do with a dead bombing suspect. Surely we can find a way to respect the innocent victims of his family and their religion, particularly his Uncle, in carrying out this awful and daunting task.

One can hope.

and
Raine

This whole thing is farce. He's dead; what's he going to do now?

As I write this, I am sitting less than one mile from the decedent's body here in Worcester. (Funeral parlor on lower Main Street.)

I am Sooooooooooo threatened by his mouldering corpse. Why, I think I'll buy a gun!!!

I mentioned the same thing about McVeigh and Oswald, even Booth are buried here to my mom. Her response was that people are getting fed up.

Fed up about what specifically I'm not sure - she wouldn't elaborate

Do you think it's a sub-conscience intolerance about the religious aspect?

I think its a mix of things - some intolerance with those that are different, some with the fact of his crime and I think some could be a way to give this criminal the finger per se

And in science-geek news....it's not new technology, but I"m sure you've heard about 3-D printing recently? This may be the first, piddling steps on the road to Star Trek Replicators, so what's the first thing we do with it?

Make a friggin' gun.

I knew about the printers, but the gun thing was new this weekend. They succesfully built, assembled, and fired the thing.

Because more guns are the answer.

The Fuh...
"If we had universal background checks, it might have been noticed sooner that this woman had purchased 30+ guns at gun shows over two weekends."
READ this:
Kimberly Yvette Dinkins, 44, of Manassas, Va., was sentenced to 18 months in prison, followed by two years of supervised release, for dealing firearms without a license.

Neil H. MacBride, U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia, and Carl J. Vasilko, Special Agent in Charge of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) Washington Field Division, made the announcement after the sentencing by United States District Judge Claude M. Hilton.

According to documents filed in connection with the case, Dinkins purchased 31 firearms – all handguns – on three consecutive weekends from Nov. 17 through Dec. 1, 2012. She purchased these firearms at three separate gun shows in Chantilly, Richmond, and Hampton, Va. Dinkins, who was not a federally licensed dealer of firearms, purchased the handguns with the intention of selling them for profit.

Filings associated with the case state that the firearms bought and sold by Dinkins were eventually recovered from juveniles and felons who utilized the firearms during drug trafficking schemes. Specifically, on Nov. 30, 2012, local law enforcement in Prince George’s County, Md., recovered one of the firearms bought and sold by Dinkins from a 20 year old Maryland man during the course of a narcotics investigation. On Dec. 12, 2012, local law enforcement in Prince George’s County recovered a second firearm bought and sold by Dinkins from a 19 year old Maryland man, again during the course of a narcotics investigation. Both Maryland men have pleaded guilty to possession of firearms-related charges in Maryland state court.

Say, I wonder if burial isn't possible because of the zombie thing?

On the Day of Reckoning, the undead terrorists will come back to life and wander the earth, bombing the Boston Zombie Marathon again, and maybe even flying planes into the Zombie World Trade Center.

We couldn't possibly let that happen now, could we? It's cremation and burial at sea for you, knave!

Only a licensed Firearms dealer should be allowed to buy that many guns in such a small period of time.

That is strawman selling -- She had no license to sell. It is the VERY exploitation of the gun show loophole.

Feelin' much better. I think it might've been just a muscle strain from tossing in my sleep (I forgot to wear the sleep mask one night - that's all it takes to screw me up!)

The more serious problem right now is this fucktard landlord again. I tried to talk to him mid-afternoon yesterday about the final bill (and how he actually owed ME money) but he blew me off & went out all damn night again.. got home at almost midnight & woke me up bangin' on my bedroom door shouting for the check. I was flippin' PISSED OFF so I laid into him harder than I wanted. It ended with me saying I wasn't giving him a cent and if he keeps being an ass about it he can talk to my lawyer (I figure he owes me north of THREE GRAND in illegal charges for lawn/pool maintenance and replacing major appliances).

I was so damn wired afterwards that I didn't get to sleep 'til like 2AM.

It ended with me saying I wasn't giving him a cent and if he keeps being an ass about it he can talk to my lawyer (I figure he owes me north of THREE GRAND in illegal charges for lawn/pool maintenance and replacing major appliances).

I was so damn wired afterwards that I didn't get to sleep 'til like 2AM.

wait, you had to replace your own appliances too?!!!!

What exactly did he do to maintain this place?

He made me pay half when the water heater shit the bed.. There was also one year when I told him I would get him a new washer as a Christmas present, but he went out and bought a more expensive matching W/D instead and I ended up paying double what I would have.

And the guy NEVER had ANY other repairs done the entire time I was there, but the place definitely needs a lotta work. He needs a new roof, kitchen & living room flooring (which he BLAMED ME for - he literally said it broke because of my 'fat ass' instead of his dog pissing all over everything and ants eating thru the wood), kitchen appliances, carpet & railing for the stairs (his dog has chewed/scratched them both to shreds), stairs outside the side door (they're broken, and he's been sued because a lady fell & broke her ankle on 'em), and the entire pool & concrete around it needs to be rebuilt.

He has all the receipts - I only have copies/pics of (most of) the rent breakdowns that he hand-writes, and that has everything written on 'em. I'm sure he has all that stuff stored away anyways cuz the guy's a pack rat. I'm already thinking if it comes to legal action I can just subpoena EVERYTHING and I know he has it.

Take the appliances out of the house.

Then leave them on the fucking curb. Damn, I wished I lived closer. I'd help you with that.

Good idea, they are your property - take them with you or sell them.
I've been thru a shitty situation like this on more than one occasion.

IOW: I've been to rodeo many times. Only got fucked once. That shit won't happen again.

A question for the assembled...

Whilst writing a letter of resignation, and eviscerating the leadership of the group that I am leaving, it is appropriate to list ALL of my once and former titles, no? I suspect I may be a pompous bastard about this, but if Troop 250 is going out of their way to ostracize me, I want them to know what's walking out the door.

No, not in this case. If you were just writing to them as a thanks for something, yeah it would be gilding the lily. Since you are telling them to go screw themselves and the horses they rode in on, go for it! Let them know what they are losing.

Well, if he doesn't have the receipts, there is no proof of who bought what items. (This guy isn't a management company -- they normally already have lawyers... )

if he can't produce the receipts, I'd ask for him to sign a letter saying so. No recipets, I's say that Scoop should either take the appliances and sell them or put them on the curb and do a craigslist curb alert.

A really interesting article on Richard Nixon.

my favorite quote (only because the author considers Jackson to one of our worst presidents:

Our worst presidents — from Jackson and Polk to Reagan and Bush Jr.— have suffered, at their core, from a rigidity of vision, from a preference for simple thinking and the comfort of unwavering ideology (Reagan’s aides famously noted how the man who entered the Oval Office with the most persuasive simple metaphor always won the aging actor’s ear).

Well it took me a while to get back on my feet after being a temp for so long.. I've been wanting to move for a while but just didn't have the money to do it. Then the economy went to shit and I wanted to wait that out, and then I piled up the medical bills last year and that took up most of my spare funds. This year I had enough saved up, plus my tax refunds.

And to be honest he wasn't really a major jerk about everything until the past six months. I told him over the years he was charging me for stuff he legally couldn't, especially this lawn thing that just kept getting more & more expensive every damn year. Then a year & a half ago he put the lawn in the rental agreement & when I objected he said I could either sign it or move out, and I really couldn't afford to move then.

He really screwed himself hard on that rental agreement tho - it says my rent is $600 and can only be changed with a written & signed modification on 30 days notice. But he never did that - he just increased it on his handwritten bills three months after I signed the original paperwork.

You may want to know what has got me so riled up this past week.

On April 28, the Troop had it's annual fundraiser at a local sheepshearing festival. This is the only event of the year, and we make all our money on it. (over 6 grand this year.) It's huge, and we need many adults and scouts to cook, take orders, man the registers, cleanup, crowd control, etc.

After the event, this email made the rounds through the general Troop email list:

As a side note, I was with Peter H. today and we were talking about the event. The good part was that you had more help than you needed. The bad part is that we knew just about everybody. I think there were at most 2 parents of new scouts and many parents of scouts that have been out of the program for years, not to mention a number of people that never had Scouts in the troop. It is fantastic that so many people support the good that Scouting brings to young men, but the parents of Scouts in the Troop need to step up to the plate.

I have been ranting about this ever since.

National policy has nothing to do with this...it's purely a troop leadership issue.

REALLY.

God hates your Idols, so Westboro Baptist Church will picket one of the many major idols of Doomed USA, to wit: Graceland. Former home of Elvis Presley. ALL the evidence suggests that his present home is HELL.

Ask the Question: How did Elvis die? The Internet gives this: Elvis died on August 16, 1977 in the bathroom at Graceland. After being found on the bathroom floor, Elvis was rushed to the hospital where he was officially pronounced dead.

The coroner recorded the cause of death as cardiac arrhythmia. While true in the strictest sense (cardiac arrhythmia means that the heart was beating irregularly), the attending physicians deliberately omitted the fact that what had apparently caused Elvis' heart to beat irregularly and then stop was an overdose of prescription drugs. These drugs included codeine, Valium, morphine, and Demerol, to name a few.

Some people believe that Elvis Presley is still alive. It is an interesting idea to explore. (WHAT?! You people need something to do with your time!!)

Assuming you do believe that Elvis died, you can visit his grave at Graceland. (YES, gotta worship the rotting carcass of that lecherous, adulterous, pervert and drug addict!) I did NOT ask the Question: What happened in the Jungle Room! My stomach is only so strong.

Comment by TriSec on 05/06/2013 18:36:45
Guys, I know you're all "outsiders". Here's as succintly as I can put it...

I graduated 9 scouts to the Troop in February of 2012, 6 of them Arrows of Light (the highest award in Cub Scouting.) As of this writing, 4 scouts lemain. The national attrition rate is 50%, but I did the math and less than 30% of the scouts graduated during my tenure as Cubmaster are still with the Troop.

There is no "Patrol method" happening at the troop - the meetings are very chaotic and disorganized. There is no instruction going on, most of the meetings consist of increasingly violent games of dodge ball. The Scoutmaster and other adults are laissez-faire about the whole thing. I"ve seen many situations that would be counter to Youth Protection and Guide to Safe Scouting that have gone uncorrected.

The Scouts themselves do not respect their senior patrol leader (another scout.) He consistently yells, threatens, and otherwise cajoles the troop into barely functioning, but most of the scouts just tune him out. As a result, there is no coherent leadership. The concepts of coaching and mentoring are alien.

The committee consists of multi-year alumni. These are gentlemen that did have scouts in the troop at one point, but their sons have long since graduated. While this isn't a problem per se (many troops operate like that), the committe has become such a closed mutual admiration society that they actively prevent new parents from joining (I was told the committee was "full" but I could be an observer, and the two meetings I went to, the chairman later complained that I talked too much.) Additionally, one of the actual parents that is on the committee is a busybody - everyone else is "doing it wrong" according to her.

Finally, and this is what is really pissing me off the most....I have had several adults pull me aside in meetings and actively try to discourage me from camping with the troop. "Don't you think Javi would be better off if he went camping without you?" Uh, no. WHO THE FUCK ARE YOU TO TELL ME HOW TO SCOUT WITH MY SON???

The only reason we haven't left already is because we worked our asses off during popcorn season last fall to fill Javi's scout account. Summer camp is paid for, and I don't want to lose that money.

But I am simmering every time I think about it, and the last month or so of meetings we've been going late (because of soccer practice). I've been sitting in the back and barely acknowledging that I am at a scout meeting.

I"ve talked to the committee, I've talked to my allies, and I can't figure out why they are behaving like this. That email I cited was really the last straw. (It was another adult - a gentleman that was Webelos leader berofe I took it over when Javi reached that level.) In short, we've wasted a year and a half of Scouting here. Javi has gotten nothing out of this troop. He's done better at other units we've visited for an hour.

Ironically, I follow him on Twitter -- over the weekend he had the most amazing series of tweets about his flight out of JFK.

It included cheese wheels and killing toilets.

Kluwe is awesome.

And the Vikings are asshats -- I bet they pick up Tebow.

Who knows who will pick up Football Jesus. I wouldn't be surprised if the Jags did, they love him here. Hometown boy and all that.

I've actually heard that the team is not interested in him now. His limited role on the Jets has reduced his value and there doesn't seem to be an NFL team that wants him. The only one who's pitched an offer is the Lingerie League (or whatever it's called now) who want him as a coach or the Arena Football team in Orlando.

Well this is interesting -- REALLY interesting.

The Rush Limbaugh Program is considering ending its affiliation agreement with Cumulus Media at the end of this year, a move that would bring about one of the biggest shakeups in talk radio history, a source close to the show tells POLITICO.

Should the move take place, 40 Cumulus-owned radio stations would lose the rights to the most popular talk radio program in the country. In addition, the show might be picked up by competing regional radio stations in Washington, New York, Chicago, Dallas and other major markets.

According to the source, Limbaugh is considering the move because Cumulus CEO Lew Dickey has blamed the company's advertising losses on Limbaugh's controversial remarks about Sandra Fluke, the Georgetown law student. In Feb. 2012, Limbaugh referred to Fluke as "a slut" because she had called on congress to mandate insurance coverage of birth control. The subsequent controversy over those remarks resulted in a significant advertising boycott.

Combine that with this....
CC Media Holdings Inc. (CCMO) saw its first-quarter loss sharply widen as revenue dropped, while sister company Clear Channel Outdoor Holdings Inc. (CCO) also had a wider loss amid higher expenses tied to interest, depreciation and amortization.

CC Media, the vehicle used by private-equity firms Bain Capital LLC and Thomas H. Lee Partners LP to privatize Clear Channel Communications in 2008, reported a loss of $203 million, versus a year-ago loss of $143.6 million.

I have to love how our home office sneaks in promos for Barclays Premier League move to NBC Sports Network next season when we air a replay of one of the Fox Soccer matches (in this case Chelsea's 1-0 win over Manchester United). .

We are helpers. When I went to IMBD, there was no way that it was the same guy. Thanks, Wikipedians for your excellent due diligence on this article!

So, it was freakin' negative 8,000 out on the soccer field again.

I can't blame Al Gore for this; isn't there at least one Republican that supports global cooling?

Hot Toddy -->
