Four Thousand.... So?
Author: Raine    Date: 03/24/2008 12:36:02

On Sunday, March 23, 2008 America lost it's 4000th Soldier.
So?
It was a somber and sad milestone that happened ironically, on Easter Sunday.
So?
We tried to not let it happen.
So?

Last week on the Fifth Anniversary of B*sh's War the vice *resident said::
RADDATZ: Two-third of Americans say it's not worth fighting.
CHENEY: So?
RADDATZ: So? You donít care what the American people think?
CHENEY: No.[...]

More Hypocrisy
Author: velveeta jones    Date: 03/23/2008 12:44:19

Happy Easter!

For some reason it just seems appropriate to talk about hypocrisy on Easter. Don't get me wrong, I'm not being anti-Christian or anything. I find it odd that we have probably THE most holiest of Christian holidays and Christians can't seem to celebrate a holiday without stealing from Pagans. In this case, bunnies, eggs, candy wrapped in ribbons......... nothing at all to do with Jesus rising from His grave and everything to do with the Solstice and celebration of spring. While I don't dispute that Jesus existed, no one knows when he was born or when he died, so instead, Holy Days were stolen from the "heathens". As if, long ago, some guys got together and picked this day just to convince Pagans that they were wrong (don't get me started on Christmas).

But, I can't single out Christians as being the only group to try to steal an event in order to erase it from history, or to attempt to otherwise "whitewash" history. We see whitewashing going on today from Ronald Reagan to Mao Tse Tung to the Confederate Battle flag and what it stood for.

During the past few decades, the media has been the “go-to” outlet to quickly and thoroughly make these revisions of history. Whether its George Bush’s many gaffs or the current controversy with Rev Jeremiah Wright and Barack Obama.

Media outlets, politicians and pundits all attacking a man - a Presidential candidate - because he went to church and may have heard a sermon which may have had some divisive words spoken.

So what?

Libertarian Saturday
Author: TriSec    Date: 03/22/2008 12:53:55

Good Morning!

I hope everyone that celebrates it is having a pleasant and spiritual Holy Week....
For the rest of us, it's spring now. Where are the flowers and chirping birds?

We'll start out this morning by checking on the party. Like everyone else, the National Libertarian Party had to put in it's two cents on the 5th anniversary of war...
Washington, D.C. - On the five-year anniversary of the beginning of the U.S. invasion and occupation of Iraq, the Libertarian Party offers the following statement by Executive Director Shane Cory:

It is with a heavy heart that I woke up on March 19, 2008, in a country still at war in Iraq, now five years after it first began. It is also with great disappointment that neither Republicans nor Democrats have provided a plan to end what is shaping up to be a "forever war." On this five-year anniversary of the invasion of Iraq, the Libertarian Party renews our call to bring American troops home without undue delay. May the courage and sacrifice of the 3,990 soldiers who have died in Iraq while serving their country never be forgotten.

Short, but to the point.

Of course, we're about the only political party in the United States that has issued an actual policy statement about Iraq that is concise, measurable, and achieveable.

Unless you've been living in a bubble, you heard it revealed last night that Obama's passport file at the State Dept. had been accessed by unauthorized personnel - on 3 wholly separate occassions. As of this writing, here is the latest info:

No warning Sirens?
Author: Raine    Date: 03/20/2008 12:54:46

No Sirens Warned Downtown of Tornado
Minutes before a deluge of rain and hail hit the south Decatur neighborhood of Oakhurst on Saturday, a siren sounded a steady wail.

A man's voice boomed: "Attention. A tornado warning is in effect for Agnes Scott College. Seek shelter now. I repeat: A tornado warning is in effect."

Perched atop a college library, the siren didn't reach only students. It also delivered the primary warning for residents nearby who were not tuned in to a television, radio or the Internet.

Agnes Scott's siren is a rare piece of equipment in DeKalb County, which dismantled its outdoor siren system years ago. Fulton County did the same, citing upkeep costs.[...]

State emergency officials do not track who sounds what sirens or where. [...] "We feel that is a local decision."

Does this sound familiar? Maybe not if thought about as just a local issue, but this is a sympton of a bigger problem in this country. Georgia is a Red State, and the fact that they cut costs by ridding programs like this should send out a huge siren to all people.

Happy Anniversary
Author: BobR    Date: 03/19/2008 12:15:07

Today is our anniversary. It's been 5 years! It started out with a real bang, but lately, things have been difficult. I guess that's to be expected. I wonder though, how much longer we can keep this going.

Personal relationship? No, I'm talking of course about the war in Iraq. It was 5 years ago today that Shock & Awe™ began. Five long years of blood and carnage and waste, based on trumped up evidence, cherry-picked intelligence and outright lies. Five long long years of human rights abuses, and Consitutional liberties being trampled, and accusations of treason against those who dared speak out against it.
